Mormon Wives' Layla Taylor Teases New Romance After Coming Out

In a Tuesday, July 6, Instagram video, Layla, 25, posed for the camera before taking the hand that appeared in the clip. No other information has been shared about this person.
“'You've been glowing lately,' thank goodness I'm dating a woman now,” Layla wrote of the video, citing the post, “Chivalry is not dead ladies.”
Layla shared on the June episode of the “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” podcast that she is bisexual, sharing that she is currently dating a woman after “liking” one of her photos on social media.
“[Women are] he's already more emotionally aware of certain things and he's very patient,” Layla shared about her new relationship. [It’s the] the level of understanding and just being there for me.”
Layla has continued to open up about how she dealt with her sexuality as a child.
“Growing up, I was misfit for many reasons in my childhood.” I grew up in an all-white neighborhood, and being a young Black girl, I just stood out from my peers and I accepted that more than I thought,” she commented. “I've always had these thoughts and I laugh about them now because I'll be watching shows like this Pretty Little Liars and I was watching, like Shay Mitchell kissing a girl. I said, 'Wait, why is it so hot?'
He continued, “But I didn't know what those feelings were because I didn't have an unusual representation around me.” [someone] I would look at it and say, 'Okay, this is normal.' It wasn't that I had parents – or I was a Mormon at one point – but I didn't have that pressure not to do it. I didn't have people around me modeling.”
Layla explained that she “didn't know if it was just a phase” before she got married Clayton Wessell in 2020 and welcomed two sons. The former have since separated, finalizing their divorce in May 2025.
“I'd rather play it slow for the rest of my life,” he said. “[Now] I feel like I'm finally getting to the point where I'm done not being who I really am and I'm more than just showing Layla's place to the world. I'm very proud to be out there.”
