Morgan Kohan's Sullivan's Crossing Explains Scott Patterson's Exit

Sullivan's Crossing's Morgan Cohen paves the way Scott Pattersonout 'touched the show.

Kohan found it “really fun” to introduce new relationships to the show.

Based on the book series by Robyn Carr, Sullivan's Crossing centers around neurosurgeon Maggie (Kohan) after she returns home to Nova Scotia to reconnect with her estranged father, Sully (Patterson). A short fling turns Maggie into making plans for the future in Sullivan's Crossing with Cal's love (Chad Michael Murray).
Season 3 of the hit series, which premiered on Netflix in August 2025, ended on a shocking note when Maggie's relationship with Cal was affected by her secret husband, Liam (Marcus Rosner), walking into the city.

“Sullivan's Crossing Season 3 ended with Sully going to Ireland, starting a new chapter in his life. Season 4 will pick up the next day, with Sully overseas,” Roth shared. Us. “Even though he's not a reality this season, the character remains an important part of the world that has the potential to be included in future seasons if that's consistent with the art going on.”
Patterson later revealed what led to her dramatic departure, writing on Instagram, “The creative differences were unacceptable and I realized sadly that the show was not something I could agree to continue.
He continued: “It is sad that they are now saying that they are moving away from me/Sully when the truth is the opposite, and those who have spoken sadly also know this truth well, yet they choose to say otherwise. I did not mean to make any statement but the fans of the books and the show should know the truth as I have always respected those who support this industry and we love luck in this industry. Bring it back to life.”
