Oliver Tree's Body Recovered After Accident, Returned to US

Singer-songwriter Oliver TreeHis body was found following his death in Brazil, and he returned to the United States.

“Oliver is back in California where he can finally rest,” said a Sunday, June 21, Instagram post shared by the late singer's account and Instagram. The post was the first shared by the account since Tree was killed after his helicopter crashed southwest of Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, June 14. He was 32 years old.

The post also paid The Tree for a piece of text and a photo carousel. “Rest in Peace Oliver Tree Nickell June 29, 1993 – June 14, 2026. Your legacy will live on forever,” the post began. “Thank you to everyone who reached out, showed love, support and did the best things for Oliver. The continued love, support and hope is helping family, friends and colleagues to get through these very difficult times.”

A foundation to honor the Tree will soon be established, as confirmed by an Instagram post. “His legacy will live on in the foundation/his power called “Dr. “The Oliver Tree Special Grant for Child Geniuses” is coming soon,” the verse continued. “This is what Oliver put together before he passed away, written in his will. We will make sure that his wish is fulfilled so that more happiness, love and art can spread to the world, that was his last wish.”

News of Tree's death broke on June 14 when CNN Brazil reported at the time that six people had died and Tree's name was on the passenger list provided by aviation authorities. Authorities later confirmed that all five travelers, including one helicopter pilot, had died.

The State Government of Rio de Janeiro said in a statement after the accident, “We express our deepest sorrow for the six victims of the accident involving two planes in the Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

Mother tree, Christine Eza Nickelladdressed his son's death in a Facebook post shared Thursday, June 18. “Our beloved son Oliver, you made this world a better place,” Nickell wrote. “We are proud of you. RIP ❤️💔❤️.”

Nickell's words were accompanied by a photo of her son being thrown with a dog.

Tree had been visiting Brazil during a world tour. He was due to take the stage next on July 1 in Lisbon and the tour would continue until October 25, when he is expected to take the stage in Beijing.
