Morgan Wallen appears to have thrown the phone on stage in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, after snatching the device from a security guard.
Wallen, 33, was seen launching the phone during his show on Friday, June 5, at Acrisure Stadium, with photos from the moment circulating on social media in the following days.
In a fan's post-show clip, shared by X, Wallen can be seen walking up to a security guard holding a phone in the air to film his performance on the floor below the stage. The singer is then seen gesturing to the phone camera to stop recording, before turning his back on the security guard and continuing to sing.
Seemingly frustrated by the security guard's refusal to stop filming, Wallen then returned to the security guard to snatch the phone from his hands before throwing it on stage.
The fan who posted the clip provided an explanation of what happened, sharing the claim, “A fan gave his phone to security, Morgan took the phone and threw it on stage.”
The incident occurred one day before Wallen canceled a second Pittsburgh show due to inclement weather. “After speaking with local officials and my team, I have no choice but to cancel tonight's show due to the severe weather that is expected throughout the day and night,” Wallen said on his Instagram stories on Saturday, June 6. “The safety of my fans and staff is a top priority.”
The current state of Wallen Still Trouble Tourstarting in April, he drew earlier periods of frustration from himself. During the Denver, Colorado, leg of the tour just one week earlier, the “Last Night” hitmaker was seen playing the piano during the game at Empower Field at Mile High stadium. Reports indicated that the increase in metal was caused by technical difficulties that Wallen encountered.
Making light of the piano mishap, Wallen took to TikTok four days later to talk about it publicly. Sharing the sarcastic response on social media, which appeared to have been recorded overnight after the piano hit, Wallen told fans, “Hey, I want you to know that this piano is working right now. That's what they told me last night, too.”

This is not the first time Wallen has had trouble with the phone while performing. In 2024, pictures on social media appeared to show a phone being thrown at the singer while he was on stage in Denver because of her. One Night at a Time Tour.
Wallen has attracted headlines over the years amid various controversies, including his May 2020 arrest outside Kid RockBar in Nashville for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. He was later acquitted of the charges.

The headlines swirled again later that year when he was spotted without a mask and kissing multiple women in college cafeterias in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, during the COVID-19 pandemic. In February of the following year, TMZ published Wallen's N-word video. It led to Wallen publicly apologizing for his actions.
“I am ashamed and sorry. I used unacceptable and inappropriate racial language that I wish to take back,” read his statement at the time. “There is no excuse for using this kind of language, I want to apologize profusely for using this word. I promise to do better.”
