Michael Gledhill Charged in Brutal Stabbing of James Handy

According to a press release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office on Friday, June 4, Gledhill, 44, was charged after his arrest. Top shot: Maverick The actor was stabbed to death outside his Tarzana home earlier this week.
“This is not the way a person's life should end, stabbed in the chest and left to die in the backyard,” said the Los Angeles County District Attorney. Nathan J. Hochman by press release. “The victim, James Handy, deserved to live out his last years enjoying what he had worked so hard for and enjoyed with those he loves and cares about. Like all victims of murder, his life mattered and the person who took it so mysteriously and violently must be held accountable for his actions.”
Los Angeles police confirmed on Thursday, June 4, that they are investigating the stabbing incident that led to Handy's death.
According to police, the suspect called 911 and said, “I'm a man's son, I just killed a man.” Upon their arrival, the police found Handy in the yard of his residence, unconscious and suffering from a stab wound in the chest. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“The suspect has been identified as Michael Gledill, 44, a resident of Tarzana,” officials said in a press release. “He was arrested and taken to the Van Nuys jail where he is being held for murder.”
The police said that the suspect alerted the nearby police and told them that he was the one they were looking for. He was arrested and held on $2 million bail. Information about legal representation for Gledhill was not immediately available.

On Friday, Wendy remained silent about the incident.
“I'm just trying to get through one day at a time, one minute at a time,” Wendy, 76, told me. The California Post. “I loved James and my son.”

Talking to TMZWendy said her son was diagnosed with schizophrenia but stopped taking his medication during his struggle with mental health.
Handy, who had 150 acting awards to his name, was known for his roles Jumanji, NYPD Blue, Beverly Hills, 90210, Law & Order; Profile, The Young and the Restless, 9-1-1 and more.
