Other Bennet Sisters Stars Protect Ryder's Shocking Mistress Gift

After Bridgerton fans had strong opinions about the gift of the show's wife, Another Bennet sister recently launched its own version.

On the Wednesday, June 3 episode of BritBox's period drama, Mr. Ryder (Laurie Davidson) gave Mary (Ella Bruccoleri) chance to go with him. Mary initially thought that moving in together meant they were going to get married – until Mr. Ryder makes it clear that he wants them to be together but no strings attached.

“In that moment, in this moment, Ryder thinks she's a modern modern woman. She's like, 'Well, marriage is a total patriarchal obligation and of course you'd want to end that,'” Davidson, 34, said to herself. Us Weekly. “I don't think he fully realizes that the actual facts of that are very different.”

Davidson pointed out that Mr Ryder did not consider Mary's opinion.

“The cost of it is very different for Mary. It's a great idea but she can honestly see why she wants to do it. I think they're going to have a good time. But I don't think she's thought it through for about the next two or three weeks,” the actor continued. “There's a line where he says, 'You have the courage of my convictions.' It's like he has an idea that he's trying out in his mind. Say it out loud and it's out of the air now.”

Davidson continued: “When Mary doesn't completely remove it, she's like, 'Well, you're smart, now we're going to do it.' It is this idea that cleans up, that he wants to follow.”

Mary ended up rejecting the invitation of Mr. Ryder, who made Bruccoleri “really surprised” by what would happen if he agreed to this change, added, “I'm glad to know if he would have been stuck or if one of them would have been happy for a long time.”

In response, Davidson suggested that Mr Ryder would encourage “freedom of relationship” for both. Bruccoleri, 30, on the other hand, was happy to hear that Mr. Ryder probably wouldn't “leave” Mary.

“I don't think so. That's the thing, I think it's true love,” added Davidson. “There's nothing wrong with Ryder. It's just what I think people might call ADHD – or you could give it another label – but big ideas and he thinks very fast. But I like to think he won't do a complete 180.”

Based on the novel by Janice Hadlow, Another Bennet sister following the events of Pride and Prejudice from Mary's point of view. The story then moves from that to follow Mary as she travels to London and the Lake District, and the neglected sister from the large Bennet family has a romantic trip to Regency England.

While Mary is currently considering her future, her connection with Mr. Hayward (Donal Finn) has yet to be mentioned again. Finn, 30, weighed in on his wife's request during an interview with her Ustold Davidson, “You feel true to yourself [on the show].”

Davidson couldn't help but agree. “It's automatic,” he added. “So in his mind, it's the most loved thing in the world.”

New episodes of Another Bennet sister airs Wednesdays on BritBox.
