Kate Gosselin Breaks Down in Tears for Dog Adoption Walk

Kate Gosselin gives fans a glimpse into his journey with his newly adopted rescue dog, Koda.
“I was just crying this morning,” Gosselin, 51, said in a Tuesday, May 26, TikTok video as she described her struggles with Koda adjusting to life at home, where she also has a German Shepherd named Meika.
The former reality star continued, “I'm tired. It's getting to be a lot, which makes me sound like a child, but the truth is, I've been watching and hoping that nothing's going to, you know, happen and I'm watching it all the time.”
Gosselin, who rose to fame in the mid-2000s documenting life with her eight children on TLC. Kate Plus 8 (before Jon & Kate Plus 8), then compared raising Koda to raising his own children.
“I'm 51 now. I'm not 29, 30. So it's got to be a lot,” he added.
Gosselin called Koda, a Malinois mix puppy, a “shy personality.”
“Now he is passionate about his football, just like Meika, and he can run forever,” he explained, becoming bitter. “So, we're seeing the funny power of the malamute now, and I'm starting to doubt it.”
Gosselin also elaborated on the challenges he's had in managing both Meika and Koda as the dogs get used to living together, admitting that it can be difficult on his own. (The TLC alum welcomed Koda and her boyfriend, Steve Neildwent public with him last year.)
“Steve went to work, so I'm with them today,” he added. “And I'm always open Bob Ross drawing when we are on TV, when we are together. So I try to keep them calm, and I go with them.”

Gosselin broke down in tears again when he remembered Koda trying to destroy the bed that once belonged to the late German Shepard Nanuq, who died in December 2025.
“Our favorite bed.” I've had it, my lord, for 15 years and more,” he explained, adding that the bed was “very special” to him. That really pissed me off. That would really break my heart. And I know things fade.
Gosselin commented, “He has a lot of energy and he needs to do something. I can see that as clear as day. He's very sweet, very loving. I think he wants to listen and he wants to entertain us, it's just [that] we must direct his power there.”
Gosselin concluded that Koda will start training soon, so he is “excited” and hopes to see some improvement in the puppy's behavior.
“The pressure is weighing on both of us,” Gosselin admitted. “All I know is part of the rescue, but, at the end of the day, probably no one else could have saved him. So, I know we're doing something good. [there].”
Gosselin revealed in April that he and Neild would adopt Koda, formerly known as Chiqis. The puppy came home with the couple in May, and Gosselin has shared daily updates since then.
