Neal McDonough Sues 'Religious Nutbag' Label Over His Works

An actor Neal McDonough he believes that his behavior prevented him from getting some Hollywood jobs.
“'What time does the bar open?' That was my thought process at the time,” McDonough, 60, shared Fox News Digital interview published on Tuesday, May 26. “You know, I was fired from the show because I wouldn't kiss a woman.
Neal – married to his wife, Ruvé McDonoughsince 2003 – he recalled the period of his career when he started drinking because he was not finding success in the world of acting.
“I've always been a drinker. I'm from Ireland. I'm from Boston. That's what we do,” he said before admitting that his drinking eventually “became a serious problem.”
“I lost my house, I lost my cars, I lost everything,” he added.
Neal will never forget the kindness he received from the late actor Luke Perrywho allowed the McDonough family to stay in his home as they worked to get their money back.

I failed, [my wife] Ruve, my five children, I lost our house,” said Neal. And that crucifixion caused me a lot of pain inside because I was doing everything about myself. How can I let the team down?”
After some tough love from his wife, Neal decided to serve God instead. After deciding to stop drinking, he said he became a better husband, father and career.
In addition to acting in the future Jimmy Stewart a biopic titled Jimmyto be released on November 6, Neal is still committed to his wife.
“Happy birthday to the greatest thing I've ever met,” he wrote on Instagram July 2025. “Someone who not only changed my life immeasurably, but changed the lives of our five children we share! The blessing you are to all of us is something I can't put into words!”
As for his rule of not kissing other women on other projects, Neal doesn't seem to regret his attitude.
“I love religion very much. I put God and family first, and myself second,” he said Close Weekly January 2019. “That's what I live for. It's been a tough few years.”
