General Hospital: Kate Mansi Exits as Kristina – Lexi Ainsworth Returns?

General Hospital has the shocking news that just came out that Kate Mansi is officially done and coming out as Kristina Corinthos Davis, and that means big changes are coming. And that makes us wonder if Lexi Ainsworth is returning or if Kristina is just going to leave.

We will talk about the reasons why Kate Mansi came out in such a shocking way, how the ABC soap will deal with it. And what's next for Kristina.

Kate Mansi Chose Not to Renew Her Contract

That's right. So, it was jaw-dropping when the official news broke and it was confirmed by actress Kate Mansi herself that she chose not to renew her contract General Hospital and just finished his three-year run. That was his first contract. So, during the contract renewal process, I think it was like, “No, she's not going to stay as Kristina.”

And Kate explained her reasons for leaving GH in a recent interview and said it was a very difficult decision. The actress said that going as Kristina makes sense though. And Kate Mansi says she has new projects that demand her full attention. One of those is producing a series with her husband Matt McInnis and filming abroad. Kate Mansi said she needs the flexibility to travel as needed while pursuing other projects. Now, her husband is producing Tomb Raider, so she might be working with him on that. But basically, it feels like she ran out of space in her life to continue playing Kristina.

And then Kate Mansi spoke with an incredible thank you to showrunner Frank Valentini and the network and writers. And Kate Mansi called Kristina's performance expressive and unforgettable. Kate also said that she is proud of the story she got to play when she ran it for three years General Hospital. And one of the stories we know from the trip that meant a lot to her was Kristina going through endometriosis with her sister Molly Lansing Davis. Because the actress has endometriosis herself in real life.

Therefore, Kate Mansi also expressed how satisfied she was to direct General Hospital then he said it felt like the right time for him and Kristina to move on.

Now, that quote is kind of a red flag to me of what might be coming. And showrunner Frank Valentini said the door is always open for Kate. So, that sounds to me like Kristina is leaving rather than jumping into recasting. But that doesn't mean that a reversal won't happen sooner rather than later. And I know many fans would love for Lexi Ainsworth to return to the role. But for now, it sounds like Kristina will be out.

How will they write Kristina?

So, let's talk about how they will write her, at least for now, with Kate Mansi saying that there is a new entertainment for Kristina. That sounds like his character might find something good to do outside of Port Charles. So, one thing we can see from Kate Mansi's departure General Hospital and Kristina also leaves Port Charles in some kind of romantic situation. Official GH spoilers have him getting some big news this week and that might be something tied to his ex-girlfriend Blaze who is apparently off the hook.

There were a lot of fans of Kristina and Blaze and the fans gave them the bad name Kraze. And I know these fans would love to see Kristina and Blaze get back together. You know, I'm sure they'd prefer it to be open General Hospital rather than off-screen. But it is possible if they go that way. You know, they could stop it. So, Kristina left town with Blaze.

General Hospital: Kristina is happy

So, we saw Kristina happy. Because Blaze comes into town and tells him to go with him and meet. And when Kristina left town with Blaze, I could see her leaving Charlie's pub in Gio's hands to run. You are a good choice. Because his other job right now is at Bobby's and in the summer he's been working by the Metro Court pool but other than that he knows he's free to run Kristina's pub if he decides to leave Port Charles for a while plus his family knows Gio is his nephew.

And we have to consider that there is a possibility given the current news that something bad could happen to Kristina and she will come out under bad circumstances. Because this week we got Ric and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) planning how to take Sidwell down and Colum is a continuing problem as he plans to kill another of Kristina's nephews Rocco Falconeri as he now knows that the child shot him. So Kristina might end up getting caught up in some kind of conflict and get hurt.

You know, if she's causing collateral damage in Sonny and Sidwell's fight, we could see Kristina coming out of, you know, a long-term coma or presumed dead or blown up like Morgan Corinthos with no body found to prove they're dead or not, which could easily stop her coming back later to come back or if Kate Mansi decides to come back.

Could Lexi Ainsworth be back?

Remember when Michael Corinthos switched from Chad Duell to Rory Gibson? That was after Michael was badly burned in the bombing of the penthouse and returned from Germany where he went to get treatment for burns with a new face. When he returned, Chad Duell was out and Rory Gibson was playing the role. That's when Michael showed up at the Nurses Ball and shocked everyone. And for something else General Hospital In this week's spoilers, Ethan Lovett (Nathan Dean) gets a new assignment. So, he might go after Rocco.

With Ethan and Kristina getting close again, I saw a setup where she goes with Ethan to help find her nephew Rocco. From there, Kristina can take Rocco and go into hiding with her until the danger dies down. And then, of course, they can bring back Kristina later with a new face. And unless GH decides to shelve the role, that means there's a chance for a repeat.

Let's be honest, a lot General Hospital fans would love to see them dial it back and bring Lexi Ainsworth back to GH. If you remember, they just stood up and took him out to make room for Kate Mansi. And many followers are tagged. So maybe the power is there General Hospital he can undo that and bring Lexi back.

And another reason that's a red flag to me is that GH might consider repeating that they just spent all that money redoing the Charlie's Pub set. And at that point, you know, I think they probably knew that Kate Mansi wasn't going to renew her contract. But they did a set anyway at the big start. So that would be a good time for Lexi to come back and reprise the role of Kristina. Right now, it doesn't look like Lexi has any projects on her plate, at least not listed on her IMDb page as, you know, in production, stuff like that.

So, if you remember when she started as Kristina General HospitalLexi was really young. He was 16 years old and played the role for about 14 years or so. So, I'm sure the ABC soap is like Lexi Ainsworth's second home. We will have to wait and see how it turns out. One thing we do know is that the end is coming in the next few weeks for Kristina. Because Kate Mansi has already recorded her last episode.

So, you are officially done. He has left the GH dressing room, he has packed, he is leaving there. So, maybe we'll see them get Kristina Corinthos out of town, you know, somehow. We'll find out if it's something violent or something good like her going with Blaze, but finally, we might finally find Lexi Ainsworth.
