Barbra Streisand Posts Video After Canceling Cannes Appearance

Barbra Streisand he is speaking like this after canceling his appearance at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where he was to receive the Palme award.
“I was amazed by those images on the screen,” said the famous singer, 84, in a visual message, Variety. “They were so powerful that they are still in my head. I wanted to be an actor and live in those very interesting countries.”
Streisand explained that she later realized that she was always “watching the whole movie” and asking a lot of questions.
“I didn't realize it at the time, but I was thinking like a director. I was trying to figure out how to tell a story. And I had stories I wanted to tell,” he said, recalling his first book in 1981. Yent.
She continued, “I was a woman, which was an obstacle for people. Even worse, she was an actress who wanted to direct. So all the studios rejected me. And for 15 years this project was going to fail. But I had to make this film.”

A few days ago, Streisand explained her absence in a statement on Sunday, May 17.
“On the advice of my doctors, as I continue to recover from my knee, I am unfortunately unable to attend the Festival de Cannes this year,” he said in a statement on Sunday. “But I was very happy to receive the Palme d'Or award and I was looking forward to celebrating the wonderful films of the 79th edition,” wrote Streisand.
He continued, “I was also looking forward to spending time with my colleagues who I admire very much – and, of course, to return to France, a place I have always loved. Although I regret that I will not be able to be there in person, I want to convey my warmest congratulations to all the filmmakers around the world whose incredible talent and artistic vision are celebrated this year. To all who continue to support the Festival, my heart and gratitude to all who continue to support the film.”
