Britney Spears' DUI Police Report Reveals Arrest Details

Britney Spears' The police report of his March DUI arrest sheds new light on why he was incarcerated.
A police report obtained by Us Weekly Thursday, May 21, points to a chaotic scene when police questioned Spears, 44, near his home in Ventura County, California, on March 4, just after 9 pm PT. Local police first responded when an anonymous caller reported that someone was “speeding and paddling.”
The officer reported that they saw Spears' car pull into the other lane several times before the siren went off to pull him over.
“[The subject] i continued driving in lane #2 and did not react quickly to my hazard lights. i made a [police car’s] siren for the attention of the driver,” wrote the officer.

When Spears got out, the officer detected a “distinct odor of alcohol” inside the car, even though the singer allegedly admitted to having one champagne mimosa seven hours earlier.
“Maybe I can drink four bottles of wine and take care of you. I'm an angel,” he allegedly told the police officer.
Spears confirmed that she had taken several prescription medications that day – 200mg of the anticonvulsant and mood stabilizer Lamictal, 40mg of the antidepressant Prozac and 2.5mg of the ADHD medication Adderall. (Spears said his last meal was ice cream at 3 p.m. that day.)
“[An officer] “he found a brown purse containing a bottle of pills labeled 'Adderall,' which were not prescribed to Spears,” the report said.[The officer] they also observed an empty wine glass in the cup holder between the front driver's seat and the front passenger's seat.”
When an officer examined him at the scene he found that Spears' eyes were “red and red” as his pupils were dilated. However, he later told officials that he was a “zero” on a scale of zero to 10 sobriety. (The spear passed two chemical breath tests when it was transported to the facility.)
“I ordered Spears to get out [car]but at first he refused,” wrote the police officer.” “Imikhonto told him that he had been beaten up and abused in the past and did not want to come out.”
The singer emphasized that “she wants to talk to her lawyer and she has the right as a woman not to get out of her car.” Spears reportedly agreed to get out of the car after 10 minutes of protest.
“I detected a distinct odor of alcohol coming from his soul and person,” the report read. “His speech was fast and jerky, his gait was unsteady, and he wiggled his fingers.”
The officer described “extreme mood swings” when dealing with Spears, saying at times he spoke in a British accent and his attitude changed from “confrontational and angry to serious.”
When they tried to check what he was eating at the scene, Spears is said to have said that he was not feeling well and did not want to finish.
“Spears reported that the lights hurt his head and he did not want to continue the test. Spears was unable or unwilling to follow my finger during the test,” the report read. “Mikhonto continued to shake his head during the examination after he was ordered to be quiet. Mkhonto revealed that he was blind but could see my finger.

“In an effort to delay the blood draw, Spears told him he needed to use the bathroom. While he was in the bathroom. Spears got into an argument and got into a fight,” the officer said. “I handcuffed Spears and put him in the front right seat [police vehicle].”
Us Weekly has reached out to Spears' attorney for comment.
Us reports that Spears was arrested near his home in Ventura County, California, on March 4, at 9:28 pm Per the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, he was transferred to a local hospital to have his blood drawn to test his blood alcohol content, which registered at .06, or below the legal limit. (The blood alcohol limit in California is 0.08% or higher for drivers 21 and older.)
“This was an unfortunate and unprovoked incident,” a spokesperson for Spears said Us on March 5. “Britney will take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this will be the first step in a long overdue change in Britney's life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”
The music legend finally checked into rehab on April 12, with an insider speaking exclusively to him Us on April 15 that his two sons – Sean Preston Federline20, again Jayden James Federline19 — were instrumental in convincing Spears to seek help. (Spears shares her two sons with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.)
“Britney went to rehab after many discussions with both of her sons,” the source said Us. “They expressed concern about his recent behavior and urged him to seek professional help, which has been long overdue, to get him back on track.
While Spears sought treatment, he was charged with one count of “vehicle code section 23152” known as driving while intoxicated on April 30.
However, a spokesperson for the Ventura County District Attorney's Office confirmed it Us that Spears would be “extended” to a plea of ”wet negligence,” where she would be “placed on probation for 12 months” and face other minor penalties.
“This DUI case will be handled according to our standard rules. For defendants with no prior DUI history, low blood alcohol level, and in the absence of an accident or injury, prosecutors often offer what is known as 'wet negligence,'” the DA's office said. Us in April. “This law allows the defendant to plead guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol and/or drugs. This type of conviction is common, especially if the defendant shows a commitment to solving problems through rehabilitation or a drug and alcohol treatment program.”
Spears finally checked out of rehab on April 30 and her lawyers accepted a “negligence” plea on her behalf. During a May 4 court hearing, a previous charge of one count of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol was dismissed.
As part of the deal, Spears was sentenced to 12 months of probation and one day in jail, although he received credit for time spent in custody. Spears must also complete a DUI class and pay $571 in state fees, in addition to seeing a psychiatrist once a week and a psychiatrist twice a month.
“In her plea today, Britney has accepted responsibility for her behavior,” Spears' attorney, Michael Goldsteinhe told u New York Times after a recent hearing. “She has taken important steps to make a positive change that is evident in the Ventura County District Attorney's decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI. Britney appreciates this wisdom and is grateful for the outpouring of support she has received.”
