Colin Jost May Reveal Pete Hegseth's Pulp Fiction Moment

Colin Jost you may have accidentally revealed a wild moment Pete Hegseth he quoted a verse from the Bible Pulp Fiction.

“We were talking in the writers' room, we were throwing out ideas for one of the colds to open like two months ago,” Saturday Night Live star, 43, said during the Thursday, May 14, episode The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “And I was like, 'Wouldn't it be great if Hegseth did that Bible verse they have in Pulp Fiction.'”

Jost, who has been playing the Secretary of War on the variety show all season, shared that he and the writers “talked about” making the fictional situation a part of the show but thought it would be “too funny.”

Little did I know, art would imitate life and Hegseth, 45, would do exactly what Jost is said to have done.

“And then, he actually did it…like two weeks later!” Entries are shared. “And I said, 'Well, the good news is, I'm under surveillance.' So, that's a relief.'”

Last month, Hegseth spoke at a “Faith in Soldiers” event at the Pentagon and recited a speech by Samuel L. Jackson and a fictional Bible verse from Pulp Fiction.

“They call it CSAR 25:17, which I think is meant to reflect Ezekiel 25:17,” Hegseth began. “It reads – and pray with me please – 'The path of the fallen pilot is surrounded by the inequality of selfish people and the oppression of evil people.'

The Secretary of War continued, “Blessed is he in the name of meeting and shepherding the lost in the valley of darkness indeed, for he is indeed his brother's keeper and finder of lost children. And I will strike with great vengeance and fiery wrath those who seek to capture and destroy my brother, and you shall know that my calling mark is Sandy my vengeance upon Sandy 1. Amen.”

Hegseth's time went to the fore after many saw him quote Quentin TarantinoA fictional version of Ezekiel 25:17. In the film, Jackson's character Jules repeats the verse before he and his partner in crime Vincent Vega (John Travolta) made a shady criminal.

“The path of a good person is surrounded on all sides by the injustice of selfish people and the oppression of bad people,” Jackson said in the film. “Blessed is he who shepherds the weak in the name of mercy and goodwill in the valley of darkness, for he is indeed his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children; I will strike with great vengeance and with great fury those who try to harm my brothers, and you will know that my name is Jehovah, when I place my vengeance upon you.

The actual translation of Ezekiel 25:17 is a very short passage that reads, “I will execute great vengeance upon them with fiery punishments, and they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I bring my vengeance upon them.”

The Pentagon's Chief Spokesman Sean Parnell responded to Hegseth's speech saying that it was intended.

“Secretary Hegseth on Wednesday shared a common prayer, referred to as the CSAR prayer, used by the brave soldiers of Sandy-1 who led the daylight rescue mission of Dude 44 Alpha from Iran, apparently inspired by dialogue from Pulp Fiction,” Parnell wrote on X. as Secretary Hegseth clearly stated in his words in the prayer service. Anyone who says that the Secretary misquoted Ezekiel 25:17 is selling false news and knows nothing of reality.
