JoJo Fletcher looks back at the highs and lows of her birthing journey before she celebrates her first Mother's Day as a parent.
“You never know what to expect when you start this journey,” the TV star, 35, told Exclusively. Us Weekly on Tuesday, April 28. “You don't know if it's going to be easy, if it's going to be hard, how long it's going to take—the struggles and things you might go through.”
The first one The Bachelorette she continued, “I've been open about that. I got pregnant, actually, a long time ago, and I had a miscarriage. And I tried for a long time after that. And so I think because of going through those things, it was heartbreaking and very difficult … when it's working, and when you have this child in your arms, it's just — I can't say the first time you're very strong, but I feel you, you still feel this kind of love. There's something, special about seeing this person in your arms you created yourself.
JoJo and her husband, Jordan Rodgerswelcomed baby girl Romy Blair Rodgers via emergency c-section last year, just two days before Christmas Day 2025. Since then, the couple has been basking in the joy of a new baby – according to JoJo, her marriage has reached “another level” since the birth of her daughter.
“We've been working really well as a team. Like, we do things together all the time,” Fletcher said Us on Tuesday, while promoting his partnership with Hallmark. “We travel, we work together [and] we're together all the time, so we know we work well as a team, but I think when you become parents, it's like, this whole different level of depending on each other and remembering, 'This is your partner, this is your teammate.'”

While they work to maintain their important date nights while juggling new parent life, the reality TV star is also committed to being open and honest about the realities of pregnancy and parenting — even when the topics are often difficult to discuss.
“It's a very serious topic,” he explained. “And my heart goes out to every mother that goes through it, because I went through it. But there's always just … keep hope. I had to hold on to hope that it would work and that the time was meant to be.”
He added, “I just had to change my mind and always be positive.” [It’s] which is very difficult to do, [but] unbelievable. [I’m] so happy. The greatest thing I have ever thought about in my life is him.”

JoJo told us that even though she was pregnant last Mother's Day, she decided to wait to celebrate the holiday as a mother until after her daughter was born.
“I was like, 'Hey, I'm pregnant, I have my baby. But I won't really celebrate Mother's Day. I'll wait until he arrives,'” he explained. So for me, this is obviously a happy first Mother's Day.”
