A Surreal, Must-See YouTube Film That's Equal Parts Comfort Food And Late Night Fuel

If you grew up with cable in your house in the 90s or early aughts, you may remember a certain, but hard to describe, feeling. You're laying on the couch watching one of your shows (for me it was always the Golden Era The Simpsons), to wake up a few hours later. Both of your arms are drowsily lying in a strange position, and your plan is no longer broadcasting.
Instead, you find yourself watching late-night pay shows that might sound normal if you're more intelligent, but they're headed straight for the uncanny valley because you're stuck in that weird state of mind that can only exist when you're on the verge of sleep paralysis.
A short film Implicit Dialogue – Have you ever seen a cow?created by YouTuber KrainagrzybowTV, captures this vivid mood through its motion visualization. The whole thing plays out like a TV left on overnight, as the sleeping subject (you, the viewer) absorbs whatever images are displayed on the screen, creating a kind of alternate reality that makes sense in the moment but becomes more disturbing the more you think about it.
Unusually Sad, But Also Scary

Implicit Dialogue it's one of those shorts you have to see to believe. It clocks in at just over 30 minutes, and there are a handful of follow-up videos that range anywhere from one to two minutes. The content is similar in the sense that it's surreal, occupying that strange space between consciousness and twilight that's hard to put into words, but something we've seen before.
The main video in the series follows the life and experiences of a boy named Rajinder. He was seen listening to his radio and watching TV before going to bed, then he wandered into a world full of windows and empty rooms, it's not what it seems Backrooms. From there, everything becomes a fever dream where worldly commercials (for products like Good Windows and the canned meat known as Bramble Bor) and television characters overlap, but also Rajinder's thoughts as he drifts in and out of sleep.
A Perfect Visual Representation of a Very Strange Feeling

Like I said, if you fell asleep while watching late night cable during your formative years, Implicit Dialogue you feel so familiar to me. I might be guessing at the inspiration for its title, but it reads like the kind of closed captioning show used when people are moaning in the background, letting the viewer know that there's something going on that's beyond the scope of what they're supposed to hear. It's like watching an episode of Home Improvementdoze off, and tell yourself you're in the episode too, but everyone else is a little quiet while pretending it's just another adventure filmed in front of a live studio audience.
As the film progresses, Rajinder's thinking becomes increasingly unstable as he befriends a sentient cabbage creature named Fungela, who is also featured in advertisements and becomes increasingly aggressive as he plays with it. When everything comes together, you will feel like a changed person. Not because it's scary in the face, but because you'll feel seen, as if someone has finally found a way to represent that strange, transient state of consciousness that we all experience at some point, but struggle to put into words.

If you like surreal dreamscapes and sitcom shows, and miss those odd blocks of late night information, Implicit Dialogue it is well worth watching and can be viewed on YouTube.
