NFL's Roger Goodell Responds to Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell he said he hoped that the New England Patriots would face the coach's failure Mike VrabelControversial relationship with NFL insider Dianna Russini.
“This is not a personal conduct policy, as we know it today,” Goodell, 67, told ESPN. Mike Greenberg at the NFL Draft on Thursday, April 23. “It's a personal matter and we'll leave it at that.”
Goodell added, “I think teams handle these issues when they're personal issues. They have a lot of information that would benefit everyone involved.”
Last week, an NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told ESPN that the league will not review Vrabel's conduct as part of its personal conduct policy, saying players, coaches and administrators must avoid “behavior that damages the integrity and public confidence in the National Football League.”
Controversy has erupted over Vrabel's relationship with NFL insider Russini, 43, after photos of the two were published. Page Six earlier this month.
Since then, more photos of the pair have been released by multiple outlets, with Page Six publishing photos Thursday of Vrabel, 50, and Russini kissing at a New York City bar in March 2020.
Vrabel is married to his wife, Jensince 1999. Russini married her husband, Kevin Goldschmidtin September 2020.
The coach of the Patriots spoke to the media on Thursday, just before the start of the program.
“That's a private and confidential matter,” he told reporters at the Patriots' facility. “I think that was an effort to protect your family and I will never dismiss it. I think my family and this football team is the most important thing…I'm excited about the challenge for both of those things.”
On Thursday morning, ESPN released a statement from Vrabel indicating that he will seek “counseling” during the ordeal.
“If you put your family first, then your career, that's what was needed and that's what was needed,” he said at a press conference on Thursday.
Vrabel will begin counseling this weekend, meaning he will not be with the team on Day 3 of the NFL Draft on Saturday, April 25. He participated in team practices on Thursday and is expected to be available on Friday, April 24.
“I've always wanted to lead by example, and I believe this is what I need to do to be the best husband, father and coach I can be,” Vrabel said in a statement to ESPN. “This is not an easy thing for me to admit, but it is something that I know will make me a better person.
