Dhaliwal: “Okay, so here's the deal with Pettersson. Okay, let me say this: every week there's a new Pettersson rumor. The latest one is the Penguins after Pettersson's, Pettersson. The teams have checked for sure. I believe Pittsburgh has some level of interest in Pettersson. asked former Canucks hitman Dhaliwal, how the Penguins would give up a promising young player like Kindel on a bad contract.
Here's what happened with Pettersson. The truth is that you have a no-trade rule. Teams are calling. Teams are desperate for a central call. I checked this morning. Pettersson has never been asked by the Vancouver Canucks to stop his move. That tells you right away that nothing is close.

Teams are entering. One team told me that for $8 million, Pettersson is worth the risk. He's not worth the risk at 10 or 11 years old. They've been trying to trade this guy, Bob, for two years. There is no reason why it shouldn't.
Groups want to be saved. Some teams want Vancouver to take a bad, bad contract. It's not easy to move one of the worst contracts in hockey. This young man went from 100 points to 50 to 50. That's hard to come by at Sh11.6 million.
The most likely scenario is that he will be in training camp. They have been trying to move him for two years. They could get rid of him at this deadline. They could have taken him in the NHL draft. They could have moved him before July 1st. If it doesn't happen in those three times, like what you're doing, a lot of teams spend a lot of money on July 1st. You know, maybe they don't have money for this boy anymore.
So, anyway, look, the Canucks are going to rebuild. Everyone knows that. His name is there. Teams are entering. I don't think anything has come close. They never asked him. They never sat him down and said, 'Hey, we're close to this team. Can you go there?' I don't know if Bob will let him.
In eight years in Vancouver, he only made the playoffs twice. He never asked for a trade. He never asked. The last two years have been terrible for this child. He was never asked. He has two powerful agents in JP Barry and Pat Brisson, who orchestrated the trade of Quinn Hughes from Vancouver. So you know what? Quinn Hughes asked to leave. Pettersson hasn't asked to leave. If Pettersson wants out, JP Berry and, and Pat Brisson, can get him out.”
