Shawn Ashmore dubs 'the end' of The Rookie's DA race

The Rookie it's one step closer to announcing who wins the race for district attorney, but an actor Shawn Ashmore he says there are many twists and turns to come.
“It's a very happy ending to the story. I'll say that,” Ashmore — who plays Wesley Evers, one of two Los Angeles attorneys running for DA on the ABC series — said exclusively. Us Weekly this month. “Whether he wins or loses, it will be a challenge for him.”
Monday, March 23, episode of The Rookieviewers began counting down two days to see if Wesley or his partner, ADA Vivian Eckert (Necar Zadegan), will emerge victorious in the DA race.
While Wesley and his wife, Detective Angela Lopez (Alyssa Diaz), they try to take the high road throughout the episode, facing more than one challenge in the latest episode.
First, their former enemy Elijah Stone (Brandon Jay McLaren) blindfolded the couple on the courthouse steps by saying that Wesley cheated on Angela with his ex-fiancée and another criminal. The RookieMonica Stevens (Bridget Regan).
Monica finally held a press conference to fight the allegations, denying that she was having an affair with Wesley – even though she cheated on him during their time together.
Once that bullet was blocked, Angela faced a moral dilemma: leak the dirt she was sent to the AI chatbot about Wesley's opponent, let the chips fall where they may.
In the end he chose to drop the incriminating information about Vivian – but Ashmore teased that the end of the race will not be without its controversy.
“It's not clean at all,” Ashmore, 46, said Us how the DA race ends, we note that Wesley and Angela, however, “hold each other accountable for doing the right thing and trying to fight the good fight.”
The actor explained that regardless of the outcome of the Monday, March 30 episode, viewers will continue to see how much Wesley “loves the law” and “does the right thing.”

Disney/Mike TaingAshmore admitted that Wesley may have a “complex hero,” but in the end he's always trying to better the town he lives and works in — even if that means his family and Angela.
“Whether he wins or loses, he's going to have to deal with the consequences,” Ashmore said. “Whether it's putting his family in a difficult situation or dealing with disappointment, you know, it depends on what's going on. It's a tough place and an interesting place, though.”
Diaz, on the other hand, was told only Us that the outcome of the DA race will also “spotlight” him in the police station.
“He's going to be scrutinized. And I don't think that was something he really wanted,” revealed the actor, 40. “There's also, like a conflict of interest, that could affect his relationship with his colleagues.”
Diaz added that Angela and Wesley's two children will play a role in how she moves forward after the race.
“Putting him and his family outside is something that makes him uncomfortable and the news coming from his colleagues is not really a good situation,” he concluded.
The Rookie airs on ABC Mondays at 10 pm ET.
