Trump praises Pennsylvania manufacturing jobs during Mack Trucks tour

President Donald Trump on Tuesday visited the Mack Trucks plant in Macungie, Pennsylvania, to present his economic plan for the war zone ahead of the midterm elections.

Trump addressed the crowd at the rally Mack's Trucks The center while accompanied by Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, R-Pa., who represents the Keystone State's 7th congressional district where the facility is located. Mackenzie is running for re-election and will face Democratic challenger Bob Brooks in the fall.

The President mentioned the impact of his economic policy in Pennsylvania, saying that it has helped increase job opportunities in the commonwealth by focusing especially on manufacturing jobs.

“More Americans are working today than at any time in our country's history. And we've created more than … 32,000 new jobs starting in Pennsylvania alone. But you should get credit for that,” Trump said. “And in the last few months alone, we've added 2,600 Pennsylvania manufacturing jobs, and that number will increase significantly as factories begin to open.”

Trump also praised the role of Mack Trucks, owned by Volvo The Swedish group, in supporting both the regional and national economy through its production.

“For more than a century, this legendary company has been making trucks right here in Eastern Pennsylvania, building the heavy equipment that keeps our economy going, our factories moving and our factories running across the country,” Trump said.

He also said his step back The Biden administration emissions regulations, arguing that those stricter standards would have raised costs for consumers and created problems for companies like Mack Trucks.

“I ended the crisis of Biden fuel emission levels that would crush the Mack Trucks here,” Trump said. It was completely reckless and ridiculous, and you can sell trucks for a lot less money, which are the best trucks that work, really work.”

Trump's speech also mentioned other significant investments in the region production industries, including pharmaceuticals, medical products and chip manufacturing.

“Eli Lilly just announced – a big company, by the way, a drug company – a $3.5 billion investment in a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that will create more than 1,000 jobs. That's all,” Trump explained.

“Nokia is investing $30 million to expand semiconductor testing and packaging operations, thousands of jobs,” he added. “And B. Braun announced a $20 million expansion of medical device manufacturing in Allentown.”
