NHL Rumors: Philadelphia Flyers Won't Pursue Trevor Zegras Extension

Host: “What about the players who applied for salary compensation, especially the top players here and Jason Robertson from Dallas, and also Philadelphia, (Trevor) Zegras and (Jamie) Drysdale?”

Anthony Di Marco: “Yeah, Zegras and Drysdale, I think that's probably more, maybe more than like, what name do I want? Like, just to expand this thing because they weren't extended, qualified, or they weren't sure they could handle it. But until Zegras leaves, Pat Dylan Hearkin works for the situation and Elia Dylan Patter works for the situation. General Manager Danny Briere's agent I think there is a good relationship when finally that business comes to seven to eight years, $9 million for Trevor Zegras.

And as Dave Pagnotta reported last week, he's hearing four years, $6.25 million or so in Jamie Drysdale's regular range. I believe that is finally happening. I don't think those deals ultimately reach a settlement. I think they will be resolved before it gets to that point.

As for Jason Robertson, I mean that's a very unusual situation for Dallas. Apparently, they traded (Ilya) Lyubushkin and Mavrik Bourque to the Nashville Predators on July 1st last week to try to free up some salary and roster spots to finish.

Jason Robertson and the Dallas Stars Head for Settlement

I mean, Robertson not only chooses where he goes in the end of wanting to stay in Dallas and reject the annual contract of $ 15 million a year from the Seattle Kraken, but he also draws a hard line, and apparently wants to be paid at least decently than his partner, Mikko Rantanen.

So I wonder if that's going there, but I don't know, guys, it seems like the Dallas era with Jim Nill, who I think historically has been one of the better GMs in the last decade or so, it feels like it might be starting to unravel a little bit over there in Texas. “

NHLRumors.com Note: Given that the Anaheim Ducks matched Leo Carlsson's offer sheet, the Flyers will now focus on securing deals for Trevor Zegras and Jamie Drysdale. Now, Briere doesn't need to count $18 million on his books. So these can be done before the hearing.

As for Jason Robertson, he can go to court. Things could be said in that meeting that could cause damage, but then again, Stars GM Jim Nill's goal was to keep Jason Robertson around for a long time. Going to arbitration allows them to continue negotiating without the threat of an offer sheet. There are many scenarios that could play out with Robertson and the Stars.
