Trump removes AI Jesus statue after backlash from Christian leaders

NEWNow you can listen to Fox News articles!
Donald Trump is nothing if not outgoing — and he often has a way of looking crazy.
Sometimes that means crossing the line – consciously, deliberately – and at others it's just reckless.
Whether he's dealing with Iran, the Epstein files, mass deportations or the leader of the Catholic Church, the president walks the normal lines of respect and compassion.
I know that this is often done on purpose, because the president has approved me. Ripping off others may bring him a bad name, but Trump has no problem with that if he gets academics and public debate about the issue he wants to advance the media agenda.

Trump posting an AI image of his user as Jesus Christ, healing a patient with glowing hands – and adding a demon in the background – was such a fiasco that he removed it after 12 hours, which he never did. It was surprising to hear him criticize the “fake news” – which is what he once talked about – when it was Catholic leaders, and prominent hosts and podcasters, who led the chorus of condemnation.

Isabel Brown, Catholic podcaster with the Daily Wire and Trump supporter: “This post is, frankly, disgusting and unacceptable, but it's also a profound misreading of Americans who are experiencing a true and beautiful revival of faith in Christ in the midst of our broken culture.”
Riley Gaines, a conservative podcaster and anti-trans activist who spoke at a Trump rally: “I don't understand why he's writing this…Two things are true…”a little humility would do him good” and “God will not be laughed at.”
HOUSE DEMS INTRODUCE BILL TO EXPIRE TRUMP USING 25TH AMENDMENT
Megan Basham, a devout Protestant Christian writer: “He needs to get rid of this immediately and ask forgiveness from the American people and then from God.”
The Reverend James Martin, editor-in-chief of the Catholic magazine America, told CNN: “I don't know many doctors with glowing hands. This is the most beautiful image of Jesus I think I can imagine.”
The posting came shortly after Trump clashed with Pope Leo, calling him “weak on crime” and “terrible on foreign policy.” The first American-born pontiff responded that “I am not afraid of the Trump administration.”

But that was covered up as a straight he said/said news story and maybe it was over a day later. By quickly following a fake photo that many found offensive, he created a stir that would dominate the news for days.
No one bought his effort with the explanation: “I thought that I as a doctor, and I should combine with the Red Cross, as an employee of the Red Cross, that supports us. It should be me as a doctor, I make people better. And I make people better. I make people better.” Trump is depicted wearing red and white robes that are often used to represent Christ.
JD Vance told Fox's Bret Baier: “I think the president was sending a joke. And then, he took it down because he realized a lot of people didn't understand his humor in that situation.”

It's just a joke. That's their default defense. Except it wasn't.

About a year ago, the president caused controversy by posting a photo of himself dressed as the Pope.
In February, Trump was widely criticized for being racist, with an image at the end of a video featuring Barack and Michelle Obama as monkeys. He said he missed that part and didn't apologize.
TRUMP IRAN ESINGS SPARK DEMANDS HIS EXCURSION, BUT ONE DEM SAYS EFFORT 'NOT REAL'
Sometimes it's better if he doesn't say anything. After Rob Reiner and his wife were brutally murdered in their home, Trump sent a message insulting the famous director saying he has Trump Derangement Syndrome.
In the war, the president spoke badly of what he said last week on Tuesday, his deadline to unleash hell on Iran's power centers: “The whole civilization will die tonight, it will not be brought back.”
He just gave the Iranians a two-week extension, which was hardly the first delay, and now he says the US will fire on any ship that tries to challenge its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which Tehran has used to choke off a fifth of the world's oil.
SWALWELL RESIGNED AMID SEXUAL HARASSMENT ALLEGATIONS AFTER 13 YEARS IN CONGRESS
This has undermined the so-called ceasefire, but there is also criticism that Trump, under pressure from Israel, launched the war without a clear exit strategy. He keeps saying that America has already won and he can pull out at any time, but that would be a long way from his original goal of Iran to stop enriching uranium that could be used for nuclear weapons.
The president and his team say his threats and delays are a way to keep the leaders of a violent country off balance.

The confluence of these events led to talk of removing the president via the 25th Amendment–although this is a dream, it requires a majority vote in the Cabinet and two-thirds of Congress.
HOUSE DEM LEADERS OPEN DOOR TO 25TH AMENDMENT AFTER RANK-AND-FILE PUSH FOR TRUMP'S REMOVAL.
In an apparent surprise, 50 Democrats introduced legislation yesterday to create a commission to investigate Trump's mental health. Most Republicans will apparently ignore it.
But as the president approaches 80, more concerns, fairly or unfairly, are being expressed about his stability, as in yesterday's New York Times piece:
“President Trump's erratic behavior and extreme comments in recent days and weeks have disrupted the fox-or-just-plain-crazy debate that has followed him on the political stage for a decade.
TRUMP'S PASS TO ELIMINATE IRAN 'CIVILIZATION' AROUND CAPITOL HILL
“The White House dismissed that assessment, saying that Mr. Trump is sharp and keeps his opponents at bay. But the president's outbursts have raised questions about America's wartime leadership. While the country has had presidents whose abilities have been questioned before, recently octogenarian physician Joseph R. Biden Jr. has been discussed — and with less profound consequences.”
First, I think the “dementia” arguments, especially for people who have never met Trump, are BS. He handles journalists' questions easily and at length, regardless of whether he agrees with the content or not.

But he is clearly exaggerating his fiery speech and making big unforced errors like the image of Jesus.
Second, Joe Biden's mental breakdown was obvious to everyone, as he was shielded from the media, the low point of the two Super Bowl interviews. There was a time when the media was forced to write it. But some prominent pundits say they spoke to Biden privately and he was sharp as a tack.

The talk about Trump is now coming from retired generals, diplomats, and former right-wing media associates, whom the president has criticized as having a “low IQ.” And it includes former nominees like Ty Cobb, the first-term White House attorney, calling him “obviously crazy.”
A Reuters/Ipsos poll in February found that 61 percent believed he was changing with age, while 45 percent said he was “mentally sharp and able to take on challenges.”
WHY ERIC SWALWELL WAS FORCED TO LEAVE THE CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR'S RACE AFTER SEX ALLEGATIONS.
Liz Peek, a columnist for The Hill and Fox News, defended him: “Trump knows exactly what he is doing,” adding that “Trump will continue to use heavy military pressure (and sometimes offensive) in his campaign to end the terrorist campaign in the Middle East in Iran for 50 years.”
The question now is whether Donald Trump can do things a little lower or if he wants to, because that was not his style at all.
Footnote: Now that Eric Swalwell has resigned from his House seat when he faced certain dismissal, after abandoning his campaign for governor of California, a new accuser emerged.
Lonna Drewes accused the California Democrat of harassing and raping her while in Los Angeles press conference yesterday.
Drewes said they met in 2018 when she was a Beverly Hills fashion model and owner of a fashion software company. told reporters that she met Swalwell in 2018 while working as a model in Beverly Hills. Drewes said they met twice in the community after Swalwell asked to help him contact him.
The third time, Drewes said, “I believe you drank my drink. “I only had one glass of wine. We were supposed to go to a political event and he said he needed to get some papers from his hotel room. When I got to his hotel room I was paralyzed and could not move my arms or my body. “
He went on to say: “He raped me and strangled me. When he strangled me, I fainted and thought I was dead.”
Now that Swalwell is no longer a congressman, two of his accusers, Ally Sammarco and Annika Albrecht, are making history with CBS. “He thought he was untouchable,” said Samjmammarco. He acts with complete impunity. He never thought that the consequences of his actions would follow him.”
CNN interviewed one of the accusers but shot him in the shadows to hide his identity.
Also yesterday, the representative of the Democratic Alliance, Tony Gonzales, said that he will resign from his position, although he is facing some dismissal. “There is a time for everything and God has a plan for all of us,” he said.
