Tottenham have held talks over sacking Igor Tudor to appoint Adi Hütter

Tottenham have held talks over whether to part with Igor Tudor during the international break, and an interesting appointment.

Tottenham are gifted with a 'good chance' of replacing Tudor

Reports on Monday suggested that Spurs are considering parting ways with Tudor this week to give the new manager time to settle after a two-week break from home games.

The Lilywhites don't play again until April 12 due to the FA Cup fixtures taking place immediately after the international break, and journalist Pete O'Rourke says they see it as the 'perfect' opportunity to make a change.

“For Tudor right now, it's game by game for him and Tottenham. The speculation about his future will never end.

“Things didn't go well for Tudor and Tottenham on Sunday, so the pressure will be very high.

“Obviously now he has an international break, it would be a good opportunity and give time for Spurs to make a change if they want.”

Tudor was unable to fulfill his media obligations after Spurs' 3-0 Premier League home defeat to rivals Nottingham Forest due to the death of his father.

Tottenham's statement on Monday read: “Everyone at Tottenham Hotspur is deeply saddened by the passing of Igor Tudor's father Mario.”

“Our thoughts and sympathies go out to Igor and his family at this incredibly difficult time.”

The Lilywhites have been given the 'perfect' opportunity to make a change.

The team next return to action when they face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, a game that may have become more difficult after the Black Cats' victory at Newcastle at the weekend, which will give them confidence and play without the pressure of relegation.

Tottenham are eyeing Adi Hütter to replace Igor Tudor

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Spurs management has held internal discussions about parting ways with Tudor immediately, rather than waiting until the summer.

There is a feeling that they need to sack the Croatian or throw their support behind him, and discussions have taken place within the N17 about appointing Adi Hütter, who has been out of action since leaving Monaco last year.

The Austrian coach, known for a more expansive style than the one fans are used to under Thomas Frank and Tudor, admitted in an interview in 2024 that he prefers his football to be “fun”.

“I prefer an exciting 5-2 to a boring 1-0. Football is also a show. I prefer football that inspires.”

His players have appreciated that throughout his career, with former Premier League defender Mohammed Salisu calling the 56-year-old “one of the best coaches I've worked under” and praising his “very pressing” style.

Give Me Sport reports that Chris Hughton, Ryan Mason, Robbie Keane, and Sean Dyche are also being considered.
