Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs Will Meet Soon
In a new episode of the 32 Thoughts Podcast on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman told Kyle Bukauskas that the reason a meeting with Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs didn't happen was over-scheduling.

Kyle Bukauskas: “What about Toronto and any kind of timeline in the new regime there, meeting the captain, Auston Matthews, and just seeing where he's at as they start what should be an interesting season.”
NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs and Auston Matthews
Elliotte Friedman: “I heard that it's just a matter of scheduling that everybody should be able to find a time to meet. I know it's Toronto. It's Matthews. It's a big deal. I hear it. There's everything about the whole podcast industry right now that's hyped when are they going to meet, and why haven't they met yet?”
I've only heard that it's a planning thing, and no one should react to it. But I think they came together as a number of players who live in the Toronto area. Like I think they met (John) Tavares, he lives in Toronto. (Chris) Tanev lives in Toronto. (William) Nylander has been seen more in the offseason than in the regular season. And here you are. I think they have met them, like all those guys. Eventually they will reach Matthews. That's right, I heard it's a planning thing.”
NHLRumors.com Note: When new Maple Leafs General Manager John Chayka met with the media Wednesday to discuss the firing of head coach Craig Berube, he held talks with Matthews to find a replacement.
“We've had conversations. I think it was important for me to find a good place in terms of the inner workings and what we had here… I wanted to make sure we had all the information we could have, so that when we sit down, we can have the best possible conversation.”
According to Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, that meeting will take place in the next few weeks. It will be interesting to see what happens in Toronto going forward.
No Panic in Ottawa with Brady Tkachuk
In a new episode of the 32 Thoughts Podcast on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman was asked by Kyle Bukauskas about Brady Tkachuk's exit meeting with the Ottawa Senators. Right now, there is no reason to panic in Ottawa.

NHL Rumors: Where Are Brady Tkachuk Trade Rumors Coming From?
Kyle Bukauskas: “Okay, what about the Ottawa Senators and their captain, Brady Tkachuk?”
Elliotte Friedman: “Yes. So they met on Monday, and it was a little unusual, because, as everyone knows now, that when they lost to Carolina, Brady Tkachuk left after that game. For a very good reason, his wife, Emma, gave birth to a beautiful little child, and he was not there to take care of that. Obviously it is the most important thing to start.
So this was Brady Tkachuk's exit meeting. And I think everyone is trying to respect everyone's privacy here, but one thing I heard was that nothing was said in that meeting that caused a lot of panic, or should give Ottawa fans cause for concern. That's all I heard.
NHL Rumors: Several Teams Would Like to Trade Brady Tkachuk
I heard that there is nothing like this, I think people really wanted to know when that meeting will take place, to find out if there will be an issue. And I just felt like it's not bad or not that bad, and there's nothing I can overreact to.”
NHLRumors.com Note: Everyone is looking for a Brady Tkachuk trade. We may have to take both the Senators and Tkachuk at their word that neither has expressed interest in a change. Yes, there are signs or things that upset the player, but this may be a larger narrative being played out in the media.
