The Wolves star is set to leave with 'advanced talks' ongoing and the 'deal' being sealed

Wolves are on the verge of their first exit after being relegated from the Championship.
Old Gold's Summer of Chaos begins, and the first big departure looks to be the most important.
Wolves' eight-year stay in the Premier League ended on April 20 when West Ham's draw at Crystal Palace confirmed their relegation to the Championship.
They have lost their first five top-flight games and have never managed to get out of the bottom three – a relentless slump that led to the sacking of Vitor Pereira in November, with Rob Edwards appointed as his replacement.
The club spent more than £150 million on transfer fees in two transfer windows in 2025 and received almost nothing in return, a reckless recruitment process that made relegation inevitable before it was confirmed.

He is destined to leave Glasgow.
Edwards steadied the ship in the second half of the season but the workload ahead of him this summer is enormous.
While Wolves make transfer plans of their own, the increase in staff will be huge, with the club stripped of top-flight status and now at risk of dealing with clubs who have more to offer.
Wolves star Joao Gomes is 'close' to a move to Atletico Madrid
At the heart of that danger sits João Gomes, and according to Ben Jacobs of TalkSPORT, Atlético Madrid are closing in on a deal to sign him.
Jacobs reports that Atletico and Wolves are in advanced talks through mediators, with the teams closing in on a 'verbal deal' worth £39 million.
That fee would represent a significant return for a player who joined Flamengo in January 2023 and has become one of the most reliable players amid Wolves' turbulent midfield.
The 25-year-old Brazilian has made 33 Premier League appearances this season, notching one goal and one assist, but it is his defensive work, strength and consistency that have made him one of the most sought-after midfielders in the division.
His contract at Molineux runs until June 2030, giving Wolves a strong negotiating position on paper, but the reality of football makes keeping hold of their star player very difficult.
The Gomes deal also has a wider scope that will interest Arsenal and Manchester United in particular.
Jacobs revealed in the same update that Atlético are in talks with Atalanta's Ederson – another pitch – but have yet to reach an agreement with the Italian club for a fee.
That collapse opens the door for Premier League clubs to swoop in, with both Arsenal and United having been identified as interested parties in the Brazilian if Atlético can't seal the deal.
For Wolves, Gomes' situation underlines the scale of the challenge ahead.
Edwards is believed to be well-liked at the club and there is no desire to change management.
Whether he is given the tools to compete for an immediate return to the Premier League is the defining question of the summer at Molineux.
