The Serie A club are ready to sell the player immediately after Everton launched a formal approach

After signing Hayden Hackney, Everton are already looking to land another signing in an attempt to close the gap between themselves and the top eight.

David Moyes' side were away from the European tour last season, but saw their flights canceled following the end of a difficult campaign.

Now, they have a lot to do and could follow Hackney by signing Atalanta's much-wanted star Raoul Bellanova.

Football FanCast verdict

Honesty

It is no surprise that Everton are looking for a right-back following the retirement of Seamus Coleman and with Bellanova expected to leave Atalanta this summer, he is the perfect fit.

Finance

Rumors that Atalanta have shown Bellanova the door should help interested parties as well as their reported asking price of €20m (£17m). That, of course, is more than Everton can afford.

Understanding

Replacing Coleman will not be an easy task. The veteran defender has been a constant presence on Merseyside. Alas, at the height of his powers at the age of 26, Bellanova is not exactly experienced and his experience in the Champions League will only help Everton's pressure in Europe.

Impact

There are several Premier League clubs chasing the right-back's signature this summer and that could have a huge impact. Everton are likely to remain in the market if they miss out and that could spark some interesting rumours.

Bellanova is a wanted man ahead of next season. He is available for a low price and at the same time that Everton are taking Coleman's place. On paper, the deal makes perfect sense for the Toffees.

Atalanta are ready to sell Bellanova

According to Tuttomercatoweb, as reported by Sports Witness, Everton have launched an approach to sign Bellanova from Atalanta this summer.

The Italian club are ready to sell the defender ASAP with the move expected to be closed 'soon'.

It is a huge boost for those at Hill Dickinson, who should have more than enough budget to match Atalanta's €20m (£17m) price tag, but there is also plenty of competition for his signature given his club's willingness to sell.

Why Bellanova is the perfect replacement for Coleman

This is not an opportunity Everton will want to pass up. With Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest also interested in Bellanova, the Toffees must turn their approach into a gift soon, as the 26-year-old is the rightful heir to Coleman's right-back throne on Merseyside.

It was Jake O'Brien who manned the right-back spot for most of last season and, as impressive as he was out of position, the numbers tell the story of a successful centre-back. Bellanova's arrival will allow that to happen, while giving Moyes a modern centre-back.

The Atalanta man could kill two birds with one stone for Everton, but they have the small task of winning the Premier League's hectic race for his signature before anything else.
