Sheffield Wednesday are on the back foot as QPR blow out Jon McCracken's run
Queens Park Rangers have entered the race for a player who has had a “terrible” season, and their Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday will face them.
QPR are looking to strengthen the crisis situation
As we approach the business end of the competition season, it looks as if QPR will have to finish on top, reaching 50 points with a 3-1 win against Leicester City in the last outing.
Julien Stephan was pleased with what he saw from his side at the King Power Stadium, saying: “We deserved this win because we showed good character, good personality, and excellent communication.
“Even though we conceded the first goal, we remained very focused on what we had to do on the pitch. It was important for me mentally to stay focused. We needed to manage smartly at the end of the game and we did that very well.”]
However, despite picking up three points, the R's have yet to keep a clean sheet, and have conceded 60 goals in the Championship this season, the second highest number in the division.
Goalkeeping has been a problem with Paul Nardi, Joe Walsh and Ben Hamer being used interchangeably this season, and Loftus Road are keen to strengthen between the sticks in the summer transfer window.
Wednesday will face it as QPR join the race for a “good” goalkeeper.
According to a report from Football Insider, QPR have entered the race for Dundee FC goalkeeper Jon McCracken, meaning rivals Sheffield Wednesday are now in the running, as League One has already been confirmed.
Blackburn Rovers are also keen to sign the 25-year-old, but are also in relegation battle, currently sitting just three points behind Oxford United in 22nd place.
McCracken's contract at Dundee is set to expire in the summer, meaning he will be available on a free transfer, and it appears that he is 'increasingly' likely to leave the Scottish Premiership club.
Steven Pressley looks set to be unhappy about losing the Scotland stopper, with the Dundee boss recently praising his performance this season, saying: “Jon McCracken has been terrible for us all season. There were a few moments later but he responded well to that.
“It wasn't that much, and we have to remember that it's his first real game at this level. He's played more games this season than any other season so he's learning all the time, growing all the time.”
The Dundee star has made 114 saves in the league this season, and is estimated to have made more saves per 90 than any other goalkeeper.

As such, the 6 foot 3 colossus could be the answer to QPR's problems between the sticks, and his availability on a free transfer is an added bonus.
QPR and Charlton are in the race to sign “stellar” former Crystal Palace striker Kone.
The R's are looking for a center fielder.
