Ornstein reveals 'information' he 'obtained' about Alonso at Liverpool as favorable talks for FSG

Liverpool are set to hold talks with Arne Slot this summer and David Ornstein has now shared an update on Xabi Alonso's links.
Slot needs a strong finish for Liverpool
Slot believes that Liverpool's exit from the Champions League will help them in their bid to re-enter the competition next season.
The only thing the Reds will focus on now will be trying to find a place in the top five in the Premier League following their 4-0 defeat against Paris St Germain in the quarter-finals.
That came hot on the heels of an equally heavy defeat against Manchester City in the FA Cup but leaves the men at the Slot with an easier schedule than some of their rivals.
Fulham's 2-0 win last weekend means they sit in fifth place, four points ahead of Chelsea and three behind Aston Villa and Manchester United with six games remaining.
The manager of the Reds, Slot said: “If you look at the 15, 20, 25 players who have the most minutes this season, most of them are on our side.
“That tells you a lot and it's one of the reasons why we had a clash, maybe why we conceded so many goals late, because the players are always the same.
“Maybe if you look at that point of view, it is a good thing that we are not in Europe, but I would prefer to play in Europe because that gives a boost to the group when you go to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
“I don't see it as a good thing that we are out but it is true and we have more training time now.”
Fabrizio Romano revealed this week that the Dutchman will hold talks with Liverpool's owners this summer to discuss his future and plans for the summer, including possible signings and exits.

Of course, that competition will take a very different turn if the Reds drop out of the top five in the coming weeks, and Ornstein has now shared his insights on what's next at Anfield.
Xabi Alonso in Liverpool update
Speaking during The Athletic's fans' question and answer session, the journalist revealed that although he is strongly linked with former Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso, he is not in FSG's thoughts at the moment.
“I don't know that Alonso is in Liverpool's plan.
“People may not like to hear that – and if I am proven wrong, you will all laugh at me. However, I can pass on the information I receive and confirm it at some point: Liverpool's intention is to continue with the Slot.”
Alonso was replaced in January by another former Red, Alvaro Arbeloa, but Madrid have won just 13 of the 21 games since the switch, suggesting there are deeper problems with the game than Alonso's training.
However, it appears that the favorite to take over at Anfield if Slot is fired is actually Andoni Iraola, who is said to be open to joining a major Premier League club this summer.

The Reds have a big decision to make…
Richard Hughes is a big fan of the Bournemouth manager, who is set to leave the Cherries at the end of his contract this summer.
