Newcastle are now “likely” to sign the £65m star after talks

If Newcastle United beat Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday, they will end the Premier League season with 52 points.
There is a slim, slim chance of Eddie Howe's side getting into Europe. But the Magpies hope to spark something in this hectic campaign.
Nevertheless, Newcastle have improved over the past few weeks, picking up seven of the available nine points. They were fluid and efficient in build-up and attack, Howe deviated from the 4-3-3 formation he introduced at St. James' Park a few years ago.
However, change continues. There's no way around the fact that many of Howe's stars will be leaving for Tyneside this summer, but there could be a small influx as well.
Aston Villa are in talks to sign a new midfielder
Anthony Gordon's move to Bayern Munich remains a priority; in fact, it seems likely that the Three Lions winger will complete a summer move to the Bundesliga champions.
However, he is not the only one who may leave, with Sandro Tonali also facing an uncertain future.
Captain Bruno Guimaraes should stay. After all, Howe can't wait to lose all his main pieces, and while Tonali and his agent want to leave, the PIF has already started work on the exciting restoration.
According to continental reports, AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara is increasing the “likelihood” of joining Newcastle this summer, with the two clubs linked with a deal.
Camara is one of France's most valuable midfielders, and with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea also expressing an interest this year, his Ligue 1 employers are hoping to land a £65m fee.
Why Camara is not good for Newcastle
Camara, 22, has made great progress over the past few years in France and Monaco, developing into a midfielder with creative ability and attacking physical qualities.
His natural intelligence and strength in attacking areas combined with the sureness of possession allows Monaco to keep possession and control the opposition. It's interesting that it's the kind of profile that goes with Gini Wijnaldum, the star of Newcastle all those years ago.
Wijnaldum spent only one year with the Toon, who were sacked and thus lost to Liverpool. However, the Netherlands star shone throughout the year, proving his worth after that as he found greatness at Anfield.

Hailed as “the perfect midfielder” by commentator and Como scout Ben Mattinson, it's also worth mentioning Camara's seemingly bottomless fuel tank. He is an asset, a person who brings energy and momentum in abundance.
This is the kind of talent Howe's system needs to thrive, and if Tonali goes, he will be a much better player, not the best at the ball but physically strong and athletic enough to match the Italy international.
Known as a deep and confident midfielder in the more advanced number 8 berth, Camara can break lines and help create attacking sequences. In that, he could be Howe's version of Wijnaldum, a player who would have fit in there if he had joined a different type of Newcastle project a decade ago – one looking for a degree.
Wijnaldum has achieved great things at Liverpool, establishing himself as one of the Premier League's best outfits under Jurgen Klopp.
But it all started on Tyneside, and now, as Howe has shaped St. James' Park has been a contender at the top of the division and outside the continent and, the new version of Gini could come in and make a real impact in the coming years.
