Man Utd now ready to launch £86m move to sign 'better than Rice' star

Manchester United are ready to launch their move to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United this summer after Paul Scholes said he is better than Arsenal's Declan Rice.

Man Utd are ready to launch Tonali

The Red Devils are still in good spirits after defeating their rivals Liverpool last weekend. Whether that good feeling leads to a lasting career for Michael Carrick is still a big question, though.

The interim manager has done his job well, reaching Champions League qualification and often doing so in style. If he is to get a permanent gig, then there is also every chance that INEOS will bring him back on full in this summer transfer window.

Man Utd have the chance to build a £300m forward line with the England star now open to joining

One of the best players in the Premier League is open to a move this summer.

This is where strengthening the midfielders will be at the forefront, between links like Elliot Anderson and Tonali. There is great interest in both, but perhaps only one will come and that may be the latter.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Man United are ready to present a big money offer to sign Tonali this summer. Newcastle are valuing their midfielder at a whopping €100m (£86m), although it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils' big money will match that price.

The Italian is certainly one to watch in the coming months. For all the problems facing Newcastle this season, his quality has remained the same. As each game passes and the Magpies continue to push for a season outside of European football, keeping hold of such players will become even more difficult.

The former Juventus man is highly rated at Old Trafford, too. The Man United legend even claimed Tonali was “better than” Arsenal's Declan Rice not long ago – saying: “Yes, I think he is better than Declan Rice.

“I like Declan Rice a lot, don't get me wrong. I think he has everything, I think a lot of times he takes too many touches. I think he tries to look more stylish than he needs to.”

“Nothing has changed” at Man Utd, says Carrick

Ahead of Man United's tough trip to Sunderland on Saturday, Carrick was once again asked about the permanent job. However, as before, he remained the most comfortable man in the room, urging his side to continue their form.

“It's been a few days and we have our eyes on finishing the season strong. I understand this question, I understand its time, but from my point of view, it puts the boys in a position to finish the season strong.”

“Then as I said before, and I calmed down, it will be fine when it is fixed. The rest is out of my hands, we will see what will happen.”

No one can blame the former midfielder for dreaming big, that's for sure. He has been a good interim appointment and now it is up to INEOS to make their decision.
