Man Utd make official move to sign £50m winger

Spending big on new attacking talent has not been uncommon for Manchester United in recent times – as seen with their efforts in the transfer window last summer.
The Red Devils have poured over £200m into signing three new players, but it's safe to say, all three players have hit the ground running at Old Trafford.
Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha all arrived in Manchester in just over 12 months ago, the aforementioned trio scoring 32 Premier League goals between them.
They were the only players in Michael Carrick's senior ranks to reach double figures, who subsequently helped the club return to Champions League football after a two-year absence.
Despite the impact of the attacking stars in the Theater of Dreams, INEOS seems to be looking for more additions in this window to give the manager the necessary strength in depth.
Man Utd enter talks to sign £50m attacking talent
In the past few weeks, United have been linked with a number of attacking options ahead of the transfer window opening on Monday morning.
AC Milan striker, Rafael Leao, has been mentioned as one of the options, and the player himself said that he is open to moving to the Premier League this window.
The Portuguese international is said to be worth around £40m at the moment, with Arsenal another English outfit in the race to sign the 27-year-old.
Leao is not the only player to appear on the Red Devils transfer shortlist at the moment, with West Ham United star Crysencio Summerville another option currently under consideration.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, United have taken their step to sign this player, and are already entering into discussions with the recently relegated club regarding the possibility of a move for the 24-year-old player this summer.
'Formal' inquiries have been made, and it has also been reported that the player himself would like to return to the Premier League this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur another club who have approached his representatives in recent days.
Any deal could cost any interested party a pretty penny this summer, with Nuno Espírito Santo's men placing a £50m price tag on the striker's head.
Why Summerville will be like United's Rashford
United fans were left confused last summer, after Ruben Amorim decided to loan striker Marcus Rashford to Barcelona, with the deal including an option to buy.
The England international fell out of favor during the manager's tenure at Old Trafford – but the 28-year-old was able to feature during his spell in Spain.
In 49 appearances in all competitions last season, the striker registered a combined 25 goals and assists and helped Hansi Flick's men to LaLiga title glory.

However, it has been confirmed that Barça will not trigger his purchase option again, which has also raised questions over the striker's long-term future at Old Trafford.
Rashford may be out for good over the summer months, but his goal against Croatia in the World Cup opener on Wednesday night is testament to the talent he still possesses.
A move to Summerville could see United land their next English model, with the West Ham star having the exact same skills as the Red Devils academy graduate.
Both are excellent options for left-wingers who like to cut inside on their favored right foot and who often find the upper hand – as the Dutchman showed in 2025/26.
The 24-year-old scored seven goals in 34 appearances in all competitions – but it was not enough to secure the club's Premier League future at the end of May.
Summerville, dubbed “unstoppable” by boss Espírito Santo, completed an impressive 1.9 dribbles per 90 – putting him in the top 18% of players in Europe's top five leagues.
The aforementioned figures are higher than Rashford's, highlighting the Hammers' ability to create carnage when they have the opportunity to run at the opposition in attacking areas.
He also managed 2.4 fouls in 90 in the Premier League last season, as opposition teams often had to abuse the striker to prevent him from causing lasting damage.
His completion rate of 23% and on-target accuracy of 28% shows his ability to provide an end product to his spectacular runs – something Rashford has been questioned about in recent times.
£50m would be another expensive addition for United, but it could give Carrick the added depth and quality he needs in attacking areas.
Rashford's departure would be a sad end to an incredible career in Manchester, but the Summerville deal will undoubtedly soften any blow this summer.
