Man Utd linked to sign £16m star Nottingham Forest make bid

Manchester United have been discussing the matter of looking for Fenerbahce star Archie Brown, who has also received an offer from Nottingham Forest.

Michael Carrick's side have been on the lookout for a new left-back, with Newcastle United's Lewis Hall also interested, and the England defender is keen on a move to Old Trafford, despite interest from Arsenal.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Magpies will be ready to cash in, and Brown has emerged as an alternative, after making a name for himself in Turkey.

The Englishman never played a major game for his country, choosing to cut his teeth abroad, and after 87 appearances for KAA Gent, secured a move to Fenerbahce last summer.

The former Gent man went on to make 25 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig, showing his quality as a forward with three goals and three assists, but former Gent scout Samuel Cardenas suggested he is a well-rounded defender.

Cardenas says: “He first played as a full-back and quickly switched to the left wing. For us, he is an option for both positions. Archie has all the qualities to succeed here: he is a complete player, fast, athletic, a strong defender, and technically he has great power and attacking ability.”

Luke Shaw was also included as a full-back at some point last season, so it would make sense to sign a potentially versatile back-up, while Brown, valued at £16m, has emerged as an option.

Man Utd are discussing a move for Archie Brown

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Man United have discussed taking the Fenerbahce star in, and have been in contact with consultants regarding a potential deal.

Forest failed in a £14m bid earlier this summer, but United are now in contention, although Hall remains their target at left-back.

However, agreeing on a deal may be difficult, as Fenerbahce is not interested in receiving money.

Signing another new midfielder will also be a priority for Man United, with Manuel Ugarte set to undergo surgery on a knee injury at the World Cup, and now they have gained momentum in their pursuit of AS Roma star Manu Kone.

The Red Devils are in a good position to secure Kone's signature, as they have been in constant contact, and the Frenchman wants to move to the Premier League.
