Liverpool are pushing hard after signing the £50k-a-week Premier League star
Liverpool are now making efforts to sign Marcos Senesi, with the defender set to leave AFC Bournemouth on a free transfer this summer.
The Reds are pursuing Bournemouth star Marcos Senesi
The Reds have already strengthened their defense ahead of the summer transfer window, with Jeremy Jacquet set to complete a move to Anfield on July 1, but they are keen to make another new addition to the central midfielder.
This came from a report by Sports Boom, which reveals that Richard Hughes is pushing hard after signing Senesi, with his Bournemouth contract expiring at the end of the season.
The Cherries have not given up on keeping the Argentinian, despite rejecting three contracts, and are preparing a fourth offer, as they emerged as surprise contenders for Champions League places.
However, as things stand, it looks 'more likely' that the defender will not stay at the Vitality Stadium beyond the summer, with Liverpool and Newcastle United ready to make moves.
The Concordia-born defender has been instrumental in Bournemouth's European push, hailed as “absolutely brilliant” by B/R Football's Seb Martin for his role in a 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in April.
The Argentinian, who has played three games, has missed one Premier League game all season, which was due to suspension, and has played 3,110 minutes, which is the second most of all players coming out of the Bournemouth team.
As such, Senesi, who earns £50k-a-week, has the experience needed to succeed at Anfield, and having just turned 29, he may have a few years left at this level.
Liverpool's interest stems from the uncertainty surrounding Ibrahima Konate, with the Frenchman's contract also set to expire in the summer, and now there is a new update on his future.

Although Konate is yet to pen a new deal, journalist Graeme Bailey suggested the defender could stay at Anfield after the end of the campaign, saying: “TEAMtalk understands the main sticking points currently center around the structure of Konate's signing package and the related agent commissions involved in the deal. Those discussions are ongoing and remain fluid, although both sides are still working toward a solution.”
Jamie Carragher may not be upset if the full-back moves on, having criticized Arne Slot for a “sloppy charge” in his Champions League debut against PSV Eindhoven earlier this season.

Slot's future has been in doubt throughout the campaign, and the title-winning manager is now looking to replace the Dutchman.
