Liverpool are now in “discussions” to sign the big-money player

Liverpool are pushing ahead with plans to sign Yan Diomande this summer and will go head-to-head with Paris Saint-Germain following Fabrizio Romano's latest update.
Liverpool have upgraded Diomande
There won't be many teams more excited to see the end of the Premier League campaign than Liverpool. Arne Slot came second thanks to the Liverpool fans. However, for now, the Dutch player will be in charge next season.
Liverpool make £22m move to sign Ballon d'Or shortlisted star
People are being contacted about the “airless” star deal.
The biggest show of faith Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes can pull off now is the arrival of big-money stars this summer, making their pursuit of Diomande less surprising.
Fabrizio Romano has now shared an update on that demand, reporting that Liverpool are “discussing” Diomande with his camp over a big-money move ahead of next season.
The RB Leipzig winger has stolen the show in the Bundesliga this season and his price tag has risen as a result. So much so that the Bundesliga club are now said to be looking for around £86m to sell their star player this summer.
Whether Liverpool decide to pay that is the big question. There is also the possibility that they will be able to bypass club-to-club negotiations altogether, after Leipzig offered Diomande a new deal that includes a release clause.
Starting this release clause will leave the ball in the winger's court, who will be left to decide between Paris Saint-Germain and a move to Anfield.
Liverpool must come forward with Diomande
£86m is a lot of money, but just ask FSG and they'll say that it wasn't that long ago that they were spending at a high level. Now, the owners of Liverpool need to complete their rebuilding by adding a quick and tricky winger in Diomande.
The Leipzig star is exactly what Slot needs. He is direct, quick and has added goals to his game in the last 12 months. He may be unproven by the Premier League, but neither was Mohamed Salah when he arrived and has become an Anfield legend. Whether Diomande is next to take over Egypt is the big question everyone is asking.
“He is a left midfielder with incredible speed, he can dribble, he runs very fast and he can finish. He also does not give up the ball and works for the team. Despite all the excitement, we have to give Yan enough time to settle into life in Leipzig and the Bundesliga.” (Leipzig CEO Marcel Schafer)
After 13 goals and 10 assists for Leipzig this season, the 19-year-old star is all set to take the Premier League by storm this summer.
