The End of the Love Story Shows JFK Jr., Carolyn's Death After the Crash

Love story ended with an emotional and explosive season finale – but how the show spoke John F. Kennedy Jr. again Carolyn BessetteWho died after the fatal plane crash?
The finale, which aired on Thursday, March 26, featured Carolyn Bessette (Sarah Pidgeon) and John F. Kennedy Jr. (Paul Kelly) on the plane with her sister Lauren (Sydney Lemmon), were on their way to Martha's Vineyard when he began to panic behind the wheel. The final shot of the accident showed Carolyn trying to calm JFK Jr. as these three players begin to face a difficult situation.
FX did not show the actual time of Carolyn, JFK Jr.'s death. and Lauren. Instead, their loved ones began to hear about their disappearance when the episode was halfway through. The process of mourning – and how families came together to mourn – was the focus of the second part of the finale. In the final scene, Carolyn and Lauren's mother read a eulogy before the shot changes to JFK Jr. and Carolyn happily watching the waves while they are on the beach together.

Despite being based on actual events, the writing team did not consult on the topics featured in the show.
“We haven't done it yet, and we hope that people enjoy their paintings,” the executive producer Brad Simpson you are only told Us Weekly during an interview with Nina Jacobson in February. “Every actor approached [their role] with love.”
“You reach one person, and then it's like, 'Why don't you reach everyone?' We love these characters. We do deep, deep research. “It's based not only on Elizabeth Beller's book but also many other works of art from that time and many other histories,” explained Simpson. Us. “We come from a place of love, but when you're talking about a person's story and their version of reality, you have to show everyone's, and often they clash. In all of our shows we've tried to be true to what we think the characters were and show you what it was like to walk in their footsteps.”

“We had Elizabeth Beller's book that we could use, but we faced challenges [capturing certain moments]. They died young, but we had enough information from the people around them to know what the problems were in their marriage, what the discord was, what it was like, what it was like, what it was like going down,” said Simpson. So we had to go down and look and draw. But Sara could really translate and go with it. John, we have a lot of things on record about him, and we have a lot about him.”
Looking ahead, Simpson and Jacobson hoped viewers would see the care that went into the show.
“We loved these characters. We loved them, and it's important for the audience to love them too. So we knew we came at it from a very honest and sincere place – and that the show wasn't meant to come down on any of them in any way,” explained Jacobson. “We knew from the beginning that we were entering with love and respect for these actors and we wanted the audience to share that.”
