Julian Rodriguez Dominates James Perella in Las Vegas

The fight swung heavily in Rodriguez's favor in the second round when he began to slip inside and land flurries quickly during the exchanges. Rodriguez continued to force Perella back throughout the middle rounds before striking out clear in the fourth with a solid left hand.
Perella survived the round despite Rodriguez landing counter combinations, but the fight remained one-sided after that as Rodriguez controlled the pace and distance.
Perella showed resilience as he tried to use movement and long range punches to slow down Rodriguez, but spent much of the second half of the fight reacting to the pressure instead of mounting a strong charge.
The judges scored the fight for Rodriguez 100-89, 98-91, and 98-91, his experience and patience were great for the one who had never lost in the welterweight division.
Rodriguez has been quietly rebuilding in recent years and now appears to be a strong prospect in Zuffa's developing welterweight division following strong performances in his recent career.
