Jason Robertson's Long Term Drags On, Offer Sheet Threat Grows

The Dallas Stars and Jason Robertson don't seem to be close
Sheet with Jeff Marek: David Pagnotta and Marek discuss the Dallas Stars, Jason Robertson's status heading into the weekend.
Marek: “Where, from what you were able to glean, where do you think things are with Robertson and the Dallas Stars? Because for everyone, for everyone who thought that, you know, attaching (Ilya) Lyubushkin's contract to Mavrik Bourque in Nashville would make Jason Robertson's deal done, not immediately. The two sides are locked.”
Pagnotta: “Yeah, I got an update when Irf and I were doing a quick recap on the Insider Edition stuff, and my question was to this person close to the situation: Has, has there been anything else going on in the last little while here. Is anyone around?”
Leo Carlsson's Offer Sheet Is $5-6 Million More Than Anaheim Ducks Last Offer
Marek: “No.
Pagnotta: “That was the exact answer.”
Marek: “No.”
Pagnotta: “Two letters, one word. No. I'm not, this is another interesting one. Like, there were groups before, talking about offer sheets. There were groups before this that we got to July one, before we reached the schedule, that we thought, we should go after Jason Robertson in the offer sheet 15 plus. And I think they are still being considered.
And I believe that I believe that other groups have reached out and had conversations. Now, I don't know, I don't know if the offer sheet has been presented, and we, we won't know until a) someone reveals it, the team or the agent to cut the players; and b) be, if he actually accepts one and signs it.
So, but there are groups that have reached at least, at least, to understand where things are there. And they have to think, just like other teams did with Leo Carlsson (who signed an offer sheet with Philadelphia), and I'm sure others, are debating internally whether or not they can go after him for 15 plus. And I think the questions are trying to gauge whether he would want to do that here, obviously with what happened with Seattle.
Marek: “I was going to say it, but he had it in Seattle, and he said 'No.' So to me, it's like a show, go away. We are not, we are not there. As we have said before. I think you and I are both on the same page. He wants to be in Dallas, but he wants to be in Dallas on his terms. Time.”
Pagnotta: “Yes.”
Marek: “This is where he wants to be, and I know that there are players who are abused by it, I know that players have come to him and tried to talk to him about this situation.
I will take it one step further. I know there are some people who are not happy about the pictures on social media of being in the World Cup, and here I am playing golf and all this, while Jim Nill and Tom Galardi are dealing with, like, the problem with the Dallas Stars. I don't think that is going very well in the organization, to be blunt.”
NHL Rumors: LA Kings, Vancouver Canucks, and Dallas Stars
Pagnotta: “No, no, they are not overly happy. And you know, we thought on July 1 that, okay, they went back to the negotiating table, maybe others, maybe someone will bend a little, and we are a few days later, we are still waiting. And since last night, you said, no, it was gone, or you know something this weekend. If so, then the risk of the paper that is offered becomes greater, even where it wants to be.”
Marek: “Yes.”
