Deonte Brown Captures WBA Inter-Continental Title With Decision Win

Brown got off to a quick start and appeared to land the best in the opening round, but referee Harvey Dock ruled it a slip. He continued to control the match early and rocked Vasquez with a left uppercut in the second.
Vasquez responded well in the middle rounds. He landed well in the third and fourth, opening a gash over Brown's left eye. The Dominican pressure fighter enjoyed a good stretch from the fifth to the seventh round, which forced Brown to work harder.
Brown worked again in the eighth, hitting a devastating body shot and using movement to create openings. He finished strongly in the final two rounds, punching effectively from distance while limiting Vasquez's chances of landing.
The win earned Brown the vacant state title and kept his unbeaten record intact.
