De Zerbi will replace the Tottenham gem in the lead as the superstar agrees to leave

Antonin Kinsky believes Tottenham are moving in the right direction under new manager Roberto De Zerbi and can avoid relegation.

Kinsky will start against Aston Villa

Recalled goalkeeper Kinsky played his part in Saturday's much-needed Premier League win from 16 games with a fine save from Joao Gomes in a 1-0 win at Wolves.

Spurs' survival hopes have been hit by a major injury problem, with Xavi Simons and Dominic Solanke the latest to join the medical table. Kinsky, on the other hand, got the opportunity due to hernia surgery last month on first choice Guglielmo Vicario.

It was an unexpected opportunity for Kinsky, especially coming a few weeks after a late-night display at Atletico Madrid, but the 23-year-old has impressed with his composure on the ball and could retain his starting spot at Aston Villa on Sunday even if Vicario is available.

With the trust of De Zerbi, his team-mates and the support of the Spurs supporters, Kinsky hopes the club can overturn a two-point deficit at 17th-placed West Ham and avoid relegation for the first time since 1977.

“Yes, the determination is huge. We feel that we want it, the fans want it, everyone is behind us and we will do everything we can,” said Kinsky.

“We have definitely put ourselves in a situation that we don't want to be in, but I believe that we are doing the right thing to get out and I believe that we have the qualities to get out.

“For (Gomes), I'm happy about that because it was a good moment at the end of the game. Yes, I just kept quiet and did what I had to do.”

De Zerbi has lost key men for the remainder of 2025/2026.

De Zerbi set to offer Kinsky's leading role after Vicario's review

De Zerbi was full of praise for the Wolves centre-back, saying: “He deserves this day, because he played very well.

“He was important for the result. He deserves everything because he is a good boy, a good goalkeeper. Especially after Madrid, he deserves a day like today.”

And now the manager will offer Kinsky a permanent role, with Vicario agreeing terms to leave the club whether or not they are relegated.

According to Italian reports, via Sport Witness, the top goalkeeper has fully agreed to all terms and conditions to replace Yann Sommer at Inter.

Tottenham Hotspur's Cristian Romero and Guglielmo Vicario looked dejected after Atletico Madrid's David Hancko scored their second goal.

All that remains is for the clubs to agree on a fee that will determine whether Spurs can avoid relegation or not.

With Vicario gone, the starting spot will be Kinsky's, with De Zerbi's praise for the Czech star putting him in a good spot.
