Crystal Palace have submitted a £22m bid for the Barcelona star with official talks ongoing

Crystal Palace have now made a bid for the “absolute leader”, as they look to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea to sign him.

Palace are looking for a new midfielder with Kamada and Wharton likely to leave

Oliver Glasner was full of praise for the role Daichi Kamada and Adam Wharton played in Palace's 1-0 win against Rayo Vallecano in the Europa Conference League final, saying.: “I usually don't like to praise people too much, but I have to say Adam and Daichi [Kamada] he played very, very well.

“We knew they were going to press with one out in the middle of the pitch to end up with one at the back. It was about them finding the space early to use it. And we were amazing at the time when we had clear chances, Yeremy had an amazing free-kick.”

However, as things stand, Kamada will be leaving this summer, as his contract expires, while Wharton has been attracting interest from elsewhere, with Manchester United touted as potential suitors.

James Savundra of Sky Sports News has confirmed that the Eagles want to convince both midfielders to stay at Selhurst Park, for next season's Europa League campaign, while Kamada wants to stay in London, which is an encouraging sign.

However, they also plan to introduce a new option in the middle of the park.

The palace offers a “perfect leader”

According to a report from Managing Barca, Crystal Palace have now made a €25m (£22m) bid for Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado, as they aim to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea to his signature.

Casado is considered the 'perfect' player for a midfielder, given his 'high football IQ', and an opening bid is on the table, with an immediate offer made after official negotiations have opened.

Barca are yet to respond to a request for the 22-year-old, who played an immediate role in their recent La Liga title triumph, appearing 24 times, but often being limited to game time as a late substitute.

Marc Casado's statistics for La Liga

  • 981 minutes played

  • 0 goals

  • 1 site

  • 91% pass rate

  • 47 duels won

  • 18 to babble

  • 7 meeting

That was despite receiving praise from Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez, who said: “His attitude, his character and his desire to improve every day. He has a winning mentality and is very competitive. That's what gave him the opportunity.

“He never stops fighting. He's very competitive. When things go wrong, he's optimistic. He's the perfect leader.”

Palace's priority should be to keep both Wharton and Kamada, both midfielders who are already proven in the Premier League, but Casado, who has one goal and seven assists to his name in 75 games for Barca, would be an exciting signing.
