Crystal Palace and Brighton are now battling to sign the Bayern Munich striker
Crystal Palace are now eyeing a summer move for the Bayern Munich attacker, and there are indications that the German club could agree to a move.
Palace are on the lookout for new signings ahead of an exciting end to the season
Oliver Glasner's time comes to an end, with his final Premier League game as Palace manager at Selhurst Park this afternoon, against champions Arsenal.
After that, the Eagles travel to Leipzig to face Rayo Vallecano in the UEFA Conference League final, with Glasner looking to add another trophy to his collection, having also won the FA Cup and the Community Shield for the first time in the club's history.
Winning the Conference League would not only be a fitting end to the Austrian striker's time at Selhurst Park, but would also grant access to next season's Europa League, as he was cruelly denied a place in last season's competition.
If Glasner's side manage to get over the line, his replacement should be able to attract a better player in the next window, and strengthening the forward line is interesting, as links have already been made to sign FC Midtyjlland winger Dario Osorio.
Crystal Palace are eyeing a “fantastic” striker alongside Osorio
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace are planning a summer move for Bayern Munich striker Arijon Ibrahimovic, who can play on both wings and at number 10, with Aston Villa also in the race for his signature.
Brighton & Hove Albion, Aston Villa, Brentford and Fulham are also interested in signing Ibrahimovic, and it is felt that the Bundesliga champions could be willing to approve another loan move, despite being delighted with his performances at Heidenheim this season.
Of course, there is fierce competition for a place in Vincent Kompany's starting XI, meaning another loan move would make sense, and he could be an exciting signing for Palace, as hailed as a “miracle” by scout Jacek Kulig.
Arijon Ibrahimovic's Bundesliga season
-
32 appearances
-
25 starts
-
2 goals
-
4 helps
-
11 great opportunities were created
-
82 defense contributions
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund also praised the 20-year-old for his versatility, adding: “Arijon Ibrahimović was able to gain valuable experience at the age of 17 last season – and not just on the pitch – at Frosinone Calcio, one of the top leagues in Europe. That has brought him a lot and now he is getting opportunities to impress in our first team. Arijon can play in all positions in attack, he has a strong goal-oriented mentality and always has a good goal.”
However, Palace should look to secure Ibrahimovic's signature on a permanent basis, rather than on loan, while Bayern are said to be waiting to assess the versatile forward in pre-season before making a decision on his future.
