Shawn Belle: “yes, I said that is, when think about i for free ambassadors again in the middle that place again guys that there is I'm going to be ready to be available, like you just mentioned. But what about a guy like Connor Hellebuck? We've heard rumors, obviously. We, what was happening with Nathi, and he was willing to go there, and the move did not happen.
Tom Gazzola: “The opposite, in a way.
The Calgary Flames continue to take calls from players
Belle: “Which is the opposite. What's going to happen with a guy like him? Is this going to be something that's going to happen, okay, as the summer goes on, closer to the start of the season, you might see a little bit of movement. Because I think a lot of the guys, like you said, go to the cabin and start solving some of the business.”
Pagnotta: “Yeah, I mean, this is one of those that I'm still looking at, saying, 'Hey, if it's August 5 and we're getting news in Winnipeg, we probably shouldn't be surprised.' And then, the random date, I'm not exactly saying, 'Let's wait for August 5,' but like just a random date. Because that's still the case, that's still going.
I think there is, with the way the conversations are going around the draft and his willingness to go to Buffalo, I think the conversations have continued. I think they will go on, and on. And I think there's, I think Carolina, Carolina is always investigating, right? So it won't surprise me if they continue to do that.
However, I think it will be interesting to see how the Jets manage this one. Because, they really, really like (Viggo) Bjork who they took in the first round. He was just standing in front of me when the pick was made, he and his family. And I didn't realize he was–he's a little fellow, but he's–he's like a truck. He is a fat little boy. Like, this is the most powerful facility they have. On the small side height wise, but this is a player they are banking on.
The Pittsburgh Penguins had official talks with the Stars, and will Elias Pettersson be eligible?
They've been–they've been too high for him. They didn't want to include that pick in the Hellebuyck trade. So, you know, that kind of showed how high it was. They were willing to move the fourth, you know, but as part of this, but Winnipeg didn't want to change the pick again, and what.
So, up baby. Do you fit right into that 2C role? I think they'll give him a chance if they can't find a replacement or another, sorry, other piece, but they're still looking to expand that second line. They still have at least one more hole in that line that they want to fill.
You know, you have to think that the negotiations will continue if Buffalo, putting forward, putting (Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen) and other pieces. So you know, whether it's (Radim) Mrtka or something else there, those discussions I think will continue.
I hadn't heard it was dead in the water, but then again, here we are, kicking the dog, the dog days of summer. But again, I'm still waiting for the job, and I think the Jets with Helly will continue those discussions, and I think there's an incentive to make it happen before the season.
NHL Rumors: The Winnipeg Jets, and the New Jersey Devils
But I think everyone understands that there is a chance that he starts the year in Winnipeg. And if he does, maybe he'll ride that out, and then, you know, he'll be moved next summer. But they are still trying, the answer to what I just gave you.”
Tom Gazolla: “I love it.”
Shawn Belle: “No, I like it too. It will be nice to see a goalie like that, especially in the middle of the season. It will have a negative impact.”
