Burger King is bringing back Crown Nuggets nationwide for the first time since 2011

Burger King is bringing back Crown Nuggets for the first time in 15 years, reviving an unpopular menu item that fans have repeatedly pushed the fast food chain to bring back.

The crown-shaped chickens will return to Burger King restaurants nationwide starting June 2 and will be available while supplies last, the Miami company announced this week. The release notes that nuggets are appearing on menus for the first time since 2011.

“We are committed to creating great experiences for the whole family and listening to our guests, and bringing back Crown Nuggets allows us to do both of those things,” Burger King Chief Marketing Officer Joel Yashinsky said in a statement.

“And, in partnership with Crayola, a brand known for creating inspiration and imagination in generations of families, we've created a King Jr. Meal experience that brings more fun and interaction during meals for Guests of all ages.”

Beginning June 9, limited-time kids meals will include a 4-pack of Crayola crayons, a colored crown and a bag of snacks. The nuggets will be available as an 8-piece order and as part of Burger King's $3.99 King Jr. Meal, accompanied by a side and a drink.

“Crayola has always focused on creating fun for the whole family, which makes this partnership with Burger King a natural fit,” Crayola's Head of Global Partnerships Anna Roca said in a statement. “Together, we're creating moments that encourage families to be engaged, creative and enrich the everyday mealtime experience.”

The return of Crown Nuggets comes amid a year of menu and brand departures for Burger King. Earlier this year, the chain announced updates to its signature Whopper, including a new bun and packaging, saying the changes were based on customer feedback rather than a complete reinvention of the burger.

“We kicked out the king and crowned us,” said the ad campaign while recommending a return to its roots.
