Aston Villa have seen a £30m bid accepted to sign a better player than Sancho

Jadon Sancho looks set to play his final minutes in an Aston Villa shirt after the 2025/26 campaign ended with a 2-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday.
The player is currently on loan from Manchester United and they have no option or obligation to make the deal permanent in next summer's transfer window.
This means that the nine minutes he played from the bench beating Freiburg 3-0 in the Europa League final may be his last minutes for this team. What a way out!
Sancho has produced just one goal and three assists in 39 games in all competitions for Unai Emery this season, including one goal and one assist in 13 games in the Europa League.
The England international has failed to provide regular quality at the other end of the pitch as a goalscorer or goal creator on the right wing for the Villans.
Aston Villa are pursuing a deal to sign the Serie A striker
Bowing out with a European trophy is one way to end a loan spell, however, and Sancho can proudly say he played his part with 13 appearances in the competition and a cameo in the final.
The Villans, however, are now reportedly eyeing the star to come to the club as an upgrade for Sancho as they head into the 2026/27 campaign.
According to the print edition of Il Messaggero, via Roman Press, Aston Villa is one of the clubs interested in signing Roma winger Matias Soule in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The report claims that the Italian giants want a fee of around £30m for the Argentina international and that the Villans will have no financial problems when it comes to matching that price.
He adds that Villa are strongly pursuing a deal for the left-footed striker and it is now down to them to make a £30m offer for Roma to accept in the coming weeks.
Premier League rivals Liverpool have also been linked with a move for the striker this month, meaning the Villans may need to act quickly if they are to strike a deal this summer.
How Matias Soule could be a dream upgrade for Jadon Sancho
Villa should now aim to secure this move in the summer transfer window as he could come as a huge upgrade on Sancho on the right flank.
As mentioned above, the Manchester United loanee has offered little in the way of quality at the other end of the pitch during his time at Villa Park, especially in the Premier League.
While Sancho failed to score a single goal in 23 appearances for Villa, Soule caught the eye with his impressive performances in Serie A.

The Argentine magician has the ability to offer significantly more than Sancho as a goalscorer and creator of goals from the right side, as shown by his output in Italy this term, scoring double figures in combined goals and assists.
Soule also produced five goals and five assists in Serie A in the 2024/25 campaign and scored 11 goals in Serie A in the 2023/24 season, which shows that his current form is no flash in the pan and that he has been delivering high quality at the other end of the pitch.
The 23-year-old talent, described as a “damaging” winger by U23 scout Antonio Mango, has had three seasons of impressive goals and assists in one of Europe's biggest leagues.
Sancho, meanwhile, has not produced more than three or four Premier League goals in the past three seasons, as he has struggled since joining United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
Therefore, Soule will come to the club as a way to improve Sancho's dreams because he is three years younger, has collected very impressive numbers this season, and has been very consistent in recent seasons at the top level.
That's why the Villans should have no problem splashing out £30m to sign the Argentine attacker to strengthen Emery's squad ahead of next season's Champions League campaign.
