A bad signing for Ange who should never play for Spurs again

Roberto De Zerbi had the same impact that Tottenham Hotspur expected when they brought him in to replace Igor Tudor at half-time.

The Italian coach has collected seven points in his first four Premier League games in charge of the Lilywhites, winning his last two games against Aston Villa and Wolves.

Prior to his appointment, Spurs had collected just five points from 13 top-flight games under Tudor and Thomas Frank combined, leaving the club on the brink of relegation.

The arrival of De Zerbi has revived some Tottenham players who looked like they would leave under the previous managers, Joao Palhinha and Conor Gallagher, who scored a goal, entertaining Villa last week.

However, there is only so much the manager can do and the one player still to be let go this summer is central midfielder Yves Bissouma.

Why Spurs need to cash in on Yves Bissouma

The Mali international, who joined Brighton for £25m in the summer of 2022, will become a free agent when his contract expires at the end of June.

However, Spurs have an option to extend his contract by 12 months and must make it work in order to pay for him in the summer transfer window.

Instead of letting him leave on a free transfer, the Lilywhites could recoup money for his services if there are teams willing to sign him this summer.

In De Zerbi's two games against Brighton and Wolves recently, Bissouma was sent off about an hour after a good performance, in which he provided more than a reliable pass.

The 29-year-old player, who has only started seven games in the Premier League this season, has failed to show that he has what it takes to be a part of this long-standing job, which is why he must be sold.

Bissouma, however, is not the only player in the squad who should be allowed to move to North London when the summer transfer window opens next month.

Worse than Yves Bissouma: Spurs player should never start Roberto De Zerbi

Despite being present in all four games, defender Radu Dragusin played just eight minutes of football for the Italian head coach in the Premier League, after the 1-0 win over Wolves.

Ange Postecoglou signed the defender from Genoa for £25m in January 2024 and, in retrospect, he may have been the worst signing for an Australian coach at Spurs.

At the time of his move to Tottenham, Dragusin was ranked in the bottom 35% of Serie A centre-backs with continuous passes (1.61) per 90, suggesting that he would not be suitable to play at the back effectively in Postecoglou's team.

Since the start of last season, the Romanian defender has averaged a foul that has led to a shot or goal for the opposition every 2.7 starts in the Premier League, highlighting his struggles when passing under pressure.

Dragusin doesn't look comfortable enough with the ball at his feet to play in a developing team, which is why he looks out of place for Postecoglou and perhaps why De Zerbi hasn't started yet.

So the 24-year-old defender should be allowed to leave at the end of the season because he doesn't look fit for the job, which is why he signed Postecoglou, because it was a stupid move at the time and it didn't work.

He is worse than Bissouma, who has played 111 games for Spurs and played a total of 90 against Man United in the Europa League final, and should be sold this summer.

Dragusin has done little to prove he has a future in North London, having made five Premier League starts this season, and should leave without starting a game for De Zerbi before the end of the season.
