Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, were arrested Saturday in Miami after US Marshals took the social media creators into custody on warrants as British prosecutors announced a slew of new criminal charges and sought their extradition.

“Today, US Marshals in the Southern District of Florida arrested Andrew and Tristan Tate after a preliminary hearing,” a Department of Justice spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “This arrest was made in accordance with the agreements and legal agreements governing the deployment of the Department of Justice.”

Bedfordshire Police also confirmed that the brothers were arrested on Saturday in Miami in connection with a UK police investigation into sex offenses that began in 2012.

Photos and video published by TMZ appeared to show federal agents handcuffing the brothers outside the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami, where Andrew Tate was scheduled to appear in a bare-knuckle event.

The arrests came hours after Britain's Crown Prosecution Service announced it had approved a major increase in criminal charges against the brothers. Bedfordshire Police said the new charges brought the number of brothers to 59, with Andrew Tate facing 42 charges and Tristan Tate facing 17.

According to CPS, Andrew Tate is now facing additional charges including rape, planning or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, assault causing bodily harm and charges including child pornography and aggravated pornography. Prosecutors say Tristan Tate also faces charges of rape, sexual assault and trafficking.

The CPS said the alleged offenses ranged from 2010 to 2017 and involved four additional victims, bringing the number of alleged victims in the UK case to seven.

“CPS has requested that the Tates be returned to the US,” said Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, in a statement. “They have been detained and are awaiting extradition proceedings in the UK.”

A police source told Fox News Digital that the charges stem from the United Kingdom and that the arrest warrant is expected to be sealed to reveal the UK charges.

The brothers are expected to make their first appearance in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida early next week.

Assistant Chief Constable Karena Thomas of Bedfordshire Police said investigators worked closely with prosecutors and international law enforcement agencies throughout the case. “There is no place for men to abuse women and girls, and we will continue to work hard to support the victims and investigate all the reports sent to us,” said Thomas.

Andrew and Tristan Tate have denied wrongdoing.
