Bill Maher praises foreign visitors to World Cup: 'They remind Americans that this place is amazing'

With the conclusion of the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, it means that America's international soccer tour is coming to an end.

Which is a shame, because the visiting fans from those nations seemed to really enjoy their time here, and who could blame them?

From Freddy's well-documented road trip across the United States to Scotland's full-scale invasion of every bar and pub along the Eastern Seaboard, it's been fun following the actions of fans from all over the world during this year's tournament.

While not everyone is happy about foreign tourists speaking glowingly about America, an unlikely source sees this World Cup for what it is: a sensational achievement for the United States and its public image.

INTERNET FALLS IN LOVE WITH GERMAN FOOTBALL FAN WHO GETS SOUTH AMERICAN AHEAD OF 2026 WORLD CUP

Talk show host Bill Maher dedicated a segment on his “Real Time” show to the people who made the tournament as memorable off the field as the teams on it.

“I love that the World Cup brought to our shores all these people who are doing a job of reminding the American people, just when we needed it, on our big 250th birthday, that this place is, in fact, amazing,” Maher said, as he was met with cheers and applause.

Sure, Maher had his usual moments of poking fun at his dry wit, saying he's seen a lot of goals in “the Star Trek conference” (an admittedly funny line), but he also came out on top with his praise for the tournament as a whole.

Maher reminded everyone that, although there are problems that need to be fixed in this country, no one is perfect.

“The name of our country is 'America,' not 'Utopia,'” Maher noted. “We can't be more perfect than what you have in mind, we can be more perfect than Belgium.”

And judging by the visitors' reactions on social media throughout the World Cup, America is as close to perfect as anyone.

“Social media, full of videos of loose football tourists roaming America, speaks volumes about everything we take for granted, reminding us of what America looks like from the outside,” Maher said.

“Normal people look around and say, 'Wow! These people live like rock stars.'

When even an outspoken liberal like Maher sees foreign soccer fans praising his country, it gives an idea of how deeply broken the left is when it comes to these things.

Instead of saying “you know what? America is awesome,” the leftist whackjobs on social media try to correct people by pointing out the perceived flaws of our country.

Maher's entire segment is unique and must be watched as a whole, but it's his poignant ending monologue that puts the bow on it all.

“Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I think it's in keeping with the American character that we have the highest number of Nobel Prize winners, and we invented the light bulb, the telephone, the smartphone, the airplane, human computers, and a bag the size of a party of Xtra Flamin' Hot Cheetos,” he said.

I couldn't have said it better myself, Billy.
