Joe Biden has slowed down because of stage 4 prostate cancer, Jill Biden said

The former first wife Dr. Jill Biden gave an update on former President Joe Biden's cancer on Saturday, saying that although the 83-year-old woman will live with cancer for the rest of her life, she remains busy, but has declined.

Biden explained during an interview with political commentator and Ana Navarro, producer of “The View” of her new book View From the East Wing: A Memoir, that when her husband was president and had a team of doctors, she revealed that she woke up seven times a night to go to the bathroom, and she thought that someone would follow up on that.

But he said when they left the White House in 2025 and his problem was still going on, he said he told him he had to see a urinalysis doctor and when he was first appointed the doctor said, “There is something there,” and the former president was given a CAT scan.

I never thought it could be prostate cancer,” he admitted.

While he said that in some cases prostate cancer “can be cured,The problem with Joe – it's stage four, and it's metastasized to his bones. So that puts things on a whole different level. I mean, Joe is going to have to live with cancer for the rest of his life, which means he's on special medications.”

He said he also went through radiation, which involved moving from their home in Delaware to Philadelphia every five weeks.

“You know, it takes money,” she said, adding that on Friday night her husband was in South Dakota for a Democratic Party event, on Saturday he was at a friend's wedding, and on Sunday he will be in Philadelphia.

“He keeps his schedule, but slows down,” she said. “I mean, it's stage four cancer – and he's 83 – so, I think the combination of all that and the medication he's on has made life very difficult these days.”

When asked how he handled the situation, Biden said: “It's hard to be a caretaker,” noting that the former president wouldn't want him to say that, but explaining that he is the one who is responsible for all the details.

I have to make sure he gets the right medication,” he explained. “I'm the one who talks to the doctor. I am the one who sets up the appointments. I'm the one who has to make sure he eats well.”

Joe Biden announced that he has cancer in May 2025.

Earlier this week, the former first lady told the “Today” show that her husband is “doing well.”

“He's out giving speeches, and he's traveling on Amtrak,” he added. “He was at the Delaware Memorial Bridge for a veteran's event. So, he's doing a lot, but he has stage 4 cancer.”

Biden and Navarro also addressed other issues he wrote about in his book, including when the former president decided to drop out of the 2024 race after his disastrous June 2024 debate.

He said he turned to her when they were at their home in Delaware and told her: “There's nothing I can do.”

BIDEN IS URGED TO DISCLOSE DISEASE HISTORY AFTER PLAY TESTING

Biden added that he was “hurt” when he saw Democrats, many of whom have been friends of his for decades, publicly asking Biden to drop out of the race.

But he said Biden reconciled with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who is believed to have been secretly leading calls for him to drop out of the race, at the funeral of Tatiana Schlossberg, Caroline Kennedy's daughter, in January.

The 75-year-old admitted that he had not yet spoken to Pelosi.

She also said she believes there has been a “double standard” in discussions about her husband's age and mental state compared to President Donald Trump, who will turn 80 on June 14.

For the next president after Trump leaves, Biden said he wants someone with integrity, reliability, and compassion, but he didn't name names.
