Choosing one of the saddest people in sports, Megan Rapinoe, to influence the sale of tickets for an exclusive World Cup tour may not have been the smartest business decision.
40-year-old Rapinoe teased her Instagram followers with a “paid partnership” in an Instagram post by a retired soccer doctor on Monday.
“Thank you, you get a guaranteed ticket with prime seats,” Rapinoe promised. “With hospitality, you get a complimentary ticket and admission, unlimited food and drinks, and plenty of time before and after the game to enjoy it all.”

Sounds amazing, right? A quick check of the World Cup Travelers website shows a price of $6,050 for one person to attend the June 12 USA-Paraguay game in Los Angeles, if you want access to the Pitchside Lounge.
Rapinoe's fans are not happy that their hero is taking a FIFA check to promote such a promotion.

“Too bad only 1% can afford it,” one of her followers responded on Instagram.
“It's sad that you're doing this Megan. They took all the fans out,” wrote another fan.
Single-seat tickets for the USA-Paraguay game are selling for just over $1,000. The revolutionaries who hate capitalism see this scam as Meg selling by check.
“Rapinoe is the shilling of FIFA, how she has lost power,” an angry fan responded in her video.
Does Rapinoe even have the influence to distribute World Cup tickets? Despite the announcement of his split from his girlfriend, Sue Bird, Rapinoe is not moving the Google Trends needle this year. Nothing says lack of passion for sports like Rapinoe telling fans to cheer for men's soccer when this woman runs Substack where she writes about slowing down in life and smelling the roses.
Only three people responded to the post. Even the wokest of the wokes ignore poor Megan.

He doesn't drive cheap tickets. He is not opposed to exorbitant ticket prices – even his adversary, President Trump, has called for lower World Cup prices. To an outsider looking in, it seems like Megan just wants to make money for Megan while ignoring the ordinary Americans she claims to be fighting for.
Maybe Rapinoe was fake all along. It just took some people longer to understand than the rest of us.
