The Edmonton Oilers have some decisions to make
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman joined Sirius XM NHL Network Radio Wednesday morning with Gord Stellick and Scott Laughlin and was asked what's next for the Edmonton Oilers.

Gord Stellick: “We're starting the second round, it's post-mortem time, and we're guessing in a few cases, but boy, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have all been very consistent in their messaging, choosing their words carefully, not going off the handle, emotional, very, very, very solid, steady in what they're saying.
So I don't know if it's the players, the coaches, or the managers. What do I mean? Does it mean you're trying to sell a piece like Darnell Nurse, for example? Does that mean I know Jeff Jackson, you were my agent, we are good friends, but everyone here has information.”
NHL Rumors: What will happen to Edmonton Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch?
Elliotte Friedman: “Yes, there is no question about that, and they still make decisions, because when I ask, no one wants to talk to me, they are not part of my friendship, I don't know.
But no, I think there's always more on the line because McDavid and Draisaitl are at the top, obviously McDavid hasn't signed for a long time, but they have some tough decisions to make there.”
The Tampa Bay Lightning want to keep Jon Cooper and Nikita Kucherov
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet joined Scott Laughlin and Gord Stellick on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio and was asked if there could be changes coming for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Scott Laughlin: “All that being said Friedge, anytime a team like Tampa, a franchise like Tampa, has all this success, of course, if you want to improve your organization, you might want to make some changes to Julien BriseBois or Jon Cooper. And I was thinking about this the other day, too.
And I think I thought of Al Arbor maybe that guy. Even the great Scotty Bowman, Joel Quenneville, Lindy Ruff, and John Tortorella? The list goes on. Also among the winningest coaches in League history. They all went to many stops along the way. Jon may be in Tampa for a long time, and certainly that was the word we got from the Lightning yesterday, that Cooper isn't going anywhere, and BriseBois isn't going anywhere.
So it would seem obvious, Fridge, that everyone wants to be like lightning. But in some way, shape or form, the Lightning itself has done a great job in holding it all together,ating, all the time you know that Kucherov can be extended come July, right?
NHL Rumors: Tampa Bay Lightning – Kucherov, Raddysh, and Cooper
Elliotte Friedman: “Yes, and I heard that, I'm sorry, I was looking at the text that I just got. I heard that they intend to do that extension for Kucherov. That's kind of the word around the league, that after BriseBois showed in the past that they want to do something, they will do it. And so I think there are a lot of people waiting for Kucherov to get it.
I will tell you. I have also heard that Cooper, like Tampa Bay, is notorious for coaching time and high contracts. Cooper, I think this one has some time in it. In the past, I think a few of them didn't do that much, but this one I heard did, and I wouldn't blame Julien BrisBois for lying.
NHL Rumors: LA Kings, Utah Mammoth, and Pittsburgh Penguins
I think one thing that will be very interesting is that they were looking for help on campus this year. And I don't know if you watched them, Luke Gazdic, and a couple of people I know. But Sam O'Reilly got to Edmonton in the Isaac Howard deal, playing in the OHL finals with the Kitchener Rangers. I heard he was amazing, but as of yesterday, in the play-offs he had 14 goals in 14 games.
And someone heard me say that in the stake, and they said this guy might be ready. And they want to see the history of Tampa, they've never been in a situation where they've had to rush guys, but people are wondering if this kid is ready to play next year.”
