Teleers Championship Times: What you need to know

Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland rode hot second rounds atop the leaderboard entering the weekend and stayed there Saturday at TPC River Highlands.

Scheffler, who got within 59 inches on Friday, got off to a slow start. World No. 1 went even through 10 holes but then hit the gas, making birdies on 11, 13, 14 and 15 to grab a one-shot lead over Hovland, who spent most of the day matching him with a shot.

Then came the 18th hole.

Both Scheffler and Hovland found the fairway but Scheffler's approach landed 25 feet from the edge of the hole. Hovland, on the other hand, focused his approach on six meters. Scheffler's chip went eight feet from the hole, and missed the backer for first contact with Hovland. But the Norwegian rolled in a six-foot birdie putt to move to 20 under for the tournament and take a one-shot lead on Sunday.

“It was really fun. I had a great time,” Hovland said of the fight with Schffler. “You know, it's been a while since I've been in this position. You know, going head-to-head with the best player in the world and hitting good shots, it was great.”

Scheffler and Hovland will play together again on Sunday. The couple will depart at 2:55 pm ET.
