Man Utd look set to sign the £80m star

Champions League football awaits, Michael Carrick has entered the technical field permanently and Ederson is on his way. Life is good at Manchester United for the first time in a long time.
Those at Old Trafford have been here before, of course. Many times, actually. This time may vary, however, and that is due to the excellent recruitment of INEOS.
Turning around Man United's recruitment looked like a daunting task for INEOS when they first arrived. It was a department that seemed intent on throwing money at the world's biggest stars or worse, that allowed its manager to accept people they knew in order to pay even more ridiculous fees.
It saw the likes of Antony arrive and Cristiano Ronaldo return and, as a result, led to the end of Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Erik ten Hag. Fortunately, things look different now.
Man Utd are expected to sign the £80m star
Something had to change and INEOS has completely changed the script – accepting Premier League proven players and players fit for the program instead of the title.
This is why Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Senne Lammens have all been exceptionally successful and why Ederson is likely to follow suit.
The Brazilian will join the club in a deal worth €45m (£39m) with bonuses to kick-start a rebuilding of the stadium which could also include the axed star.
According to respected journalist Simon Stone who was speaking on the BBC, Man United may sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United, seeking an amount of around £80m to sell the player.
Stone said: “I think with Mateus Fernandes, I'd be surprised if that deal could be done. At the moment, I think we're in trouble with West Ham saying they shouldn't sell. Well, they might be selling him. West Ham are also saying they want £80m.”
Reportedly open to movement, the player will seek confirmation during the match. After Casemiro's departure and while rumors continue about Manuel Ugarte, however, there should be no worries that he will miss out on a starting spot at Old Trafford.
Fernandes' final decision will come soon and everyone involved at Man United is hoping it ends with a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Where Fernandes fits into Man Utd's new home
With Ederson, Kobbie Mainoo and Fernandes, Man United will have one of the best midfields in the Premier League.
Ederson provides that intensity without possession. Mainoo drives the game forward with his ability to drive forward and provide a goal threat, while Fernandes is a combination of both.

In terms of providing the foundation for Bruno Fernandes to flourish, that trio will be as perfect as they come. There is enough offensive threat to draw players away from the talisman and enough defensive cover to give him license to do what he does best.
There should be no match-time worries about the man who might arrive at West Ham, either. Of the three midfielders, he is the one who provides the most on and off the ball. His place should be nailed down if he completes a summer move.
Ultimately, handing Bruno Fernandes the keys to Man United's attacking play without sacrifice will be the answer to any success for Carrick's side. Even if it means spending £80m on his name, Man United will eventually reap the rewards.
In previous years, Manchester United's recruitment team may have been against the idea of signing the axed star. Instead they look to foreign markets
However, this past year, they adopted Sir Alex Ferguson's strategy; signing proven Premier League players. In that regard, this is a step that can follow the success of Mbeumo and mainly Cunha like Fernandes, he was playing at the bottom end of the top flight.
While Cunha got off to a slow start at Old Trafford, scoring just once in his first 12 games, he was a roaring success, finishing the campaign with ten goals to his name.
Now, INEOS must repeat that transfer mentality by accepting Fernandes. When the final whistle blew at the London Stadium to confirm West Ham's relegation a few weeks ago, it was heartbreaking for all involved. However, this midfielder could have held them at the top. He enjoyed an excellent individual campaign.
At just 21-years-old, the Portuguese star has been given the opportunity to provide Man United with a top striker alongside Mainoo and Ederson, as the young midfielder has taken the Premier League by storm.
He is open to movement and the ball is now in the court of those who write the checks no matter how big they seem. A repeat of last year's Mbeumo and Cunha should be on the cards.

Better than Ederson: Man Utd are in talks to sign Anderson's “best partner”.
Manchester United are looking to make more midfield signings following Ederson's arrival.
